STOC NATIONAL RALLY 2011

Post by gvickery » Thu Mar 10, 2011 10:44 am

STOC National Rally – Cholmondeley Pageant of Power

Just to remind everyone that Angela needs bookings for our National Rally at Cholmondeley in July by latest 25th March in order to secure club prices for tickets which are at a significant saving to the 'on-the-day' prices. A one day Paddock Pass is £15 club price compared to £30 non club price.

You can find all the details in Angela's last Chairman's Newsletter.

The National will be held on Saturday 16th July and we will have a Club Stand Friday 15th July through Sunday 16th July. As we are holding our National Rally at the Pageant of Power and normally have an excellent turnout we have secured a very good pitch for the Club.

So far Angela has 16 Tiger bookings. We'd like to field at least 40 Tigers.

It's going to be a great day out for members and families so please support your Club – especially those of you who live in the North West.

STOC NATIONAL RALLY 2011

STOC National Rally – Cholmondeley Pageant of Power

33 Tigers are booked in so far. Looking like a pretty good turn out that will make a good showing for the Tiger and the Club BUT that leaves 280 or so members not turning out!!

So if you think it would be good to rumble over, up or down to the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power and want to book a half price 1 Day Paddock Pass now, then please call Angela.

What competitions and awards are there at the national event?

Is it an originality and modified award?

Martin

Briefly, 3 classes of judging following lines first established in the USA.

- Standard Class (1/2/3)
- Personalised Class (1/2/3)
- Modified Class (1/2/3)

Minimal deviations from production spec permitted to qualify for Standard. A few more for Personalised to allow for some post production upgrades and Modified caters for competition, rally and all other comers!

Large trophy - Carroll Shelby Concours d'Elegance' cup goes to the winner of Standard Class.

I see.

I was wondering if there was an Owners Choice Award that I believe some clubs have where all the owners present vote for the car they personally like the most.

Not necessarily the best, prettiest or most correct etc. but the car that has ingredient X for them.

martin the members choice is a bit hit and miss as ive seen people filling in several forms for there own car,you should have to have your membership number on that to make it fair

Hmm, I suppose it could be more fuss than it's worth in that case.

Oh well, it was only a thought.

“Martin, the members choice is a bit hit and miss as I've seen people filling in several forms for their own car.”
Pretty blooming pathetic, in my opinion, if that is correct.

There always used to be a Members Choice award donkey's years ago and everything seemed to run smoothly and fairly.

It is an opportunity for a car which does not fall neatly into the main, pre-determined categories to be judged on its merits, ingredient X, recognition of restoring a scrap Tiger to wonderful condition over umpteen long years etc or whatever attracts you to it.

Like Gary, I suggest one member, one vote with the member's name or membership number on a numbered voting form and a record of all forms distributed.

It is a shame that we need to resort to these restrictive procedures because a small minority may be abusing the system, but surely that is not too difficult to organise?
