C&SC ADU 311B article
C&SC ADU 311B article
in this months (Nov) classic & sportscar, is an article on the ex works sunbeam tiger adu 311b
Classic & Sportscar
I can vouch that it is a very good piece by Julian Balme (most members know the 'space cadet') reflecting well the importance of this first production and works Tiger to our community of enthusiasts.
Best you get a copy.

A most sad footnote to the article is that Jonathan Everard the man responsible for the fine restotation of ADU 311B passed away last month at far too young an age.

I got a copy of the C&S mag, it was a nice article and interesting how Balme plays down the sucsess of the Tiger as a rally car as a "what if" when most people talk it up as quite sucsesful but could have been better.
Either way a nice article and some nice pictures. Interestingly in the little table about the other cars they do skip ADU 310.. and good to see they acknowledge the loss of one of the cars as per Doug Nyes article a few years back.

Michael.
ADU 310B was not part of the 'work's' rally effort. In fact this registration number is often bracketed with the rally cars but ADU 311B is B9470011 and the 1st production Tiger and ADU 312B is B9470012. There is also ADU 309B - B9470008, which is a surviving 'AF' development vehicle but I have yet to find any evidence that Humber registered a Tiger with ADU 310B. I can say the number isn't live (per the DVLA) and hasn't been for at least 30 years.
And to fill in the gaps: B9470009 is AWK 621B and B9470010 is ADU 638B; both also being 'AF' development vehicles and survivors!

Hi,
I finally got my copy and read the article. Not a bad article about the Tiger, but had some hard luck stories most of which were bad planning and a few back-handed compliments thrown in. I have always wondered how the twin booster setup worked and what was the reasoning behind the two?
Regards, Robin.
