Moffat Rootes Show June 2011
Moffat Rootes Show June 2011
usually end of June in bonny Scotland, have never been and would like to go next year. Anybody been, or recommend a hotel to stay in. I hear it's a popular event so I suspect booking of accomodation is advised - hence the early post.

Or indeed, perhaps organise a "group" meeting of Tigers if sufficient interest

Moffat car show
Tony, Moffat is a 2 day show, Saturday is a run out and Sunday is the show. I go up on the Sunday, 73 miles 1hr 10/20mins. So you could stay in Lakes! and explore on the Saturady if you didnt want to do the run out around Moffat.

That Michael..........sounds like a plan!!t1germk1 wrote:So you could stay in Lakes!
For one reason or another I didn't quite make the trip to Moffat back in 2011 (when I suggested it for this original thread) but with a business trip to Glasgow earlier this year I managed to stop off en-route and secured accommodation for the 2012 'Rootes' weekend which took place over the 23rd/24th June, and yes it did rain
Highly recommend the weekend, the Scots are a extremely welcoming making it most enjoyable for the visitors to the region and indeed there local produce (food and whiskies) was a great experience
A special thanks to regulars Fred Daynes a local Scot and Michael Rackham for making the Alpine/Tiger pitch stand out against all the interesting Rootes cars on show. It was good to see Tigers taking a few prizes on the day too!
A few pics from the weekend, and Saturday was the run out into the hills and Sunday the show in the town;
Red, White and Blue - to celebrate the Queens Jubilee
Getting ready for the run;
A beautiful pre-production MK2 belonging to regular Bill Tolson;
Wet start in the town's High St, though a great send-off from the locals/visitors who turned out in dreadful conditions to show their support;
Lunch stop;
With all that Whiskey on tap, Tiger with a sore head the following morning;
A great turnout and mix of Alpines and Tigers;
Get yourself North of the border, you won't regret it

Tony. That's a great spread of some stunning Tigers. The white MK II - FKV 357D is 'PP1' the first pre-production MKII - actually a MK IA adapted by Jensen. Its rarely seen at Tiger events - sadly the owner isn't a Club member. Did you get a shot of HBR alongside it?
It would be good to get all the UK 'PP' cars together sometime for a photo shoot....as we did for the 4 private sale RHD MKII's at Brooklands in 2010.

Thanks for posting all the nice pic's Tony.
I see the specialist is having trouble with a straw which was not mandrel bent, therefore restricting the flow of that energy drink and making him sag to his right . I am sure he will resolve the situation before the next pint of that energy drink turns up.
