Well done Martin for winning the handicap cup by 1/10th sec. Despite Bobs tiger not wanting to rev past 4000 rpm, he did 13.83 @ 103mph. His best run was 13.73 @104.

Great result, is that over a 1/4 mile drag run?

Yes its a 1/4 mile drag on Brighton promanade. Ordinary road surface, reckoned to be 1 sec slower than a drag strip. Imust find out how to load photos.

Thanks Bob for lending me your car for the speed trials. It was a great day topped of by winning the handicap class. With a 13.83 time at brighton it should do a sub 13 at the pod and with the engine running correct upto 6000 rpm I recon a high 11's is possible.

Hi Toni,
It is a fantastic event and the oldest motor race event in Britain. First one was in 1905. It is 2 events in 1. The first part is the organising clubs handicap event and you can enter it by joining Brighton & Hove Motor Club and holding an MSA speed 'B' licence. You can send away for a 'B' licence. You get only 1 practice run and 1 proper run in the handicap. The second event is the class's proper and you need a MSA speed 'A' licence which you can only get by having a 'B' licence and doing several events and getting signatures on your licence. Then they will upgrade you to an 'A'. Check out www.brightonandhovemotorclub.co.uk and www.msauk.org
