THE GOODWOOD REVIVAL - Sept 19 -21st

The 'No8' Sunbeam Lister Tiger will enter the the prestigious Royal Automobile Club "TT" race on Sunday. The Celebration TT is the feature event of the meeting and always draws the 'best in class' to the grid. Interesting photographs Michael. They certainly show a number of the 'contenders' in the "TT". The Tiger did a dozen or more laps in the hands of Vern Schuppan. Here is a description of most of the other VIP drivers: http://www.goodwood.co.uk/site/content/ ... 5e%26Z%3D1

Peter Procter - President of STOC has been invited and will take part in the Goodwood Legends Tribute, honouring the 60th Anniversary of the opening of the Goodwood Circuit and the 10th Anniversary of the Goodwood Revival Meeting.

Seems that the LM Tiger had a poor showing at the RAC TT during the goodwood revival. From the video footage i saw it was running about 4th last. Was this the guest drivers or have the oposition done some more development since it last competed in (2002?)? :?:

Also did anyone go and take videos/photos?

You can find the RAC 'TT' race results and lap analysis here:
http://www.goodwood.co.uk/Site/Content/ ... eview.aspx

Tony Eckford (owner) started the race and turned in 1min 41s+ laps but Tony would be the first to admit he is not a big league racer (rallying used to be his first love). The leaders were running sub 1m 30s laps and when Vern Schuppan took over he drove the socks off the Tiger and was getting around in 1m 33.5s.

In the 2002 'TT' Chris Beighton/Howden Ganley had a best lap time of 1m 32.4s, a full second quicker than Vern Schuppan but Chris knows the '8' LM Tiger very well; his time in 2002 would have placed him 12th or 13th this year - the same result as 2002! Incidentally the wiining Cobra (Tambay/Pescarolo) in 2002 had a best time of 1m 28.7s. This is to be compared with the winning Ferrari 330 (Hardman/Vernon-Roe) this year which had a best time of 1m 27.7s.

It will be asking a lot of the '8' car to find 5/6 secs, who ever drives it!

The Tiger was 19th among the 24 finishers (28 starters). All things considered an excellent result in this 'Best of Class' international race.

I should have a gallery link ready in a day or two.

Thanks graham.

They must have only put those results up in the last 24 hours as i have checked the site reguaraly to find results. Seems Schupan did a great job as a guest driver, nice to see a good showing from an aussie connection!

As for the car being able to do better.. what spec is that motor? I remember seeing it in the Octane writeup last year.. its not original spec as per LM (no double 4bbl) and the brakes looked to be a more modern setup, at least the resivoirs did... What mods are the cars allowed, are they just "period correct" as in mods that could have been doneas opposed to the actual spec they ran? The ex-Unett car is 180B? That ran/runs quad webers and a different rear end setup.. is this car using the same suspension mods?
