MoT exemption

Post by ksherlock » Thu Oct 18, 2018 3:44 pm

After reading to article in the latest Cats Whiskers, I am still a bit confused. My Mot expired in August 2018 but the car is taxed until Jan 2019. can I still drive the car legally or will I have to wait until the DVLA sends me the reminder to tax the car and then declare that it is Mot exempt?

Why not have a word with the guys where you have had the car MOT'd in the past.

You can carry on driving it. When the next tax renewal is due, you will simply not be required to have an MOT, (as has been the case for a few years on pre 1960 cars). What is new, is that you will be required to make a tick-box declaration that the car has not been modified and is therefore eligible for the exemption.

I got the local MOT garage to do an MOT without logging into the Vosa system just to check all was good.
