Hard top restoration

Post by Tigerfan » Sat Aug 19, 2017 10:08 am

Hi Guys,

Thought I would spend the winter months refurbishing a hardtop that I have had in the back of my workshop for about 10 years or more. Generally its in quite reasonable condition with the normal decay problems on the rear rail and corners, all repairable though.

However I dont seem to have the side window frames. Not sure if I ever did or they have been thrown out with other junk. Anyway, has anybody perhaps got a set from a beyond repair hardtop that they could sell me. Not concerned as to the condition of the perspex as that can be replaced.
The alternative would be to use standard window rubber and make fixed windows which would do, but opening windows would be nice and original.

Is the rear window still available in perspex or is there an glass alternatve?

Thanks in anticipation

Rich

Rear windows are still available. Check with your local suppiers. Rick at Sunbeam Speciaties in Canada I think has them if that fails. There were some glass windows made in the states. Don,t know if there are any still available.
