Hardtop stand or other storage?

Hi, anyone out there used a hardtop stand such those that are advertised on EBay /amazon for around £100 a throw?
Or, alternatively, being a scroogey type I have an idea that a wooden frame constructed of 2x2 (suitably padded) may do just as well?
Any thoughts appreciated?

Must be going senile , as I see I posted a similar question a few months back.....nevertheless thoughts on the use of a hardtop stand would be appreciated....apologies to those who are bored!!
