NZ Sunbeam AGM & Tiger 50 celabrations 2014

Post by Mal » Sat Mar 01, 2014 5:06 am

The NZ Sunbeam car club held their AGM in Gisborne this year and celebrated the Tiger 50 years with a run from New Plymouth on the west coast to Gisborne on the east. I think they had about 21 cars to start the run with others joining in on the way. In the end they ended up with 41 cars registered for the event. Here's some pic's.

From the other end of the Tiger line up. We made it too late for the judging.
Slight problem on the way but we made it.

All in all a very pleasant weekend spent with a great bunch of people and some lovely cars.

Imp-ressive

Hi Mal - great shots and stunning setting.
Is that a set of '86' plates on your Tiger? And out of curiosity, were all of the Imp owners looking for their engines???

Thanks Bob. I know you guys have been doing it hard over there with the weather. Hopefully it improves and dries up for you soon.

Yea that's my Tiger with the GSMART plates. They say as you get older you revert back to your childhood

The imp owners found them. Someone had hid them all in the boot :D
Seriously the third imp along is a Stilleto, first time I had seen one. It's cool.
Two of the others are sports.

Rack and Roll

Post by Tom_HRO260 » Tue Mar 04, 2014 1:34 pm

I've never set eyes on a Stiletto but they are a sweet looking coupé

How did the new rack set up and power steering fare? What's the effect on the dreaded "Get out of my way! I AM trying to turn..." angle been?

Tom

I don't think there is any improvement in the turning circle in the cense of a measurement, but the tyres are not scuffing the tarmac on full lock so that in itself could mean an improvement. Who does a U turn in a Tiger with the steering on full lock. I have the rack out again at the moment. I wanted more adjustment on the hemi rod ends and I can get the MGB steering arms further apart by another 6mm so that will be another gain.

The car was a pleasure to drive. There is an improvement there just because it's a more modern rack. The car was better to drive even before I wired the pump,
I have not measured the bump steer yet but there were no nasty surprises going over bumps through corners.

I will take some more pic's and do an up date when I get the rack back.

Cheers Mal
