Brooklands Autumn Motorsport Festival - Sunday 13th October
The Brooklands Autumn Motorsport Festival was sadly a total wash out. But whilst numerous participants and clubs bottled out,
STOC managed to keep the Tiger 'flag' flying.
Pete 'Doddy' Dod and his team turned out with his circuit Tiger but was confined to a couple of even slower than
planned demo laps around the MB World oval in very heavy rain:
The Club managed a turnout greater than the combined clubs of Ford Cortina Club, Lancia Classic club, Subaru and Renault clubs; all 5 of us:
Hats offs to Chris Marshall, Peter Rescud, Del Cooper, Chris Franklin, Bob McDowell, Graham Vickery. So wet the TesT Hill wasn't on.
BUT Brooklands is a must for any member who has not visited yet.
Here's a little bit of track history in place of a club report! -
As first built in 1907 - Our Tigers were parked up where the words 'Test Hill' are on the map.
Racing on the still fresh track just about a 100 years ago!
As it looked in 1950's after the WW2 construction on the track
1960's when cutting through the track to exploit the old airfield at the circuit centre
Similar date showing a shed on the Members Banking prior to its demolition and banking restoration.
Pretty much how it looks today and just hinting at its steepness; you get to the top on your hands and knees!
Looking the other way.
Getting back to STOC visits, this from 2002
This from the Double 12 meeting 2010
Members having a crack at the Test Hill
Team Tiger Trophy Winners chatting to Duke of Kent ahead of collecting the prestigious D12 Trophy (Driving Competition)
but the old boys wanted other vintage old boys to win and fiddled the score cards dropping us to 2nd place.
But it was the first opportunity (2010), ever, to get together the 4 late 'private sale' HRO FE MKII's - last and second to last in the mix!!
Re-cap over!!
