Always sound advise, I know of somebody who lost a foot and bottom of one leg, changing brake pads on his car when the jack toppled over. Not a pleasant experience and easily avoided for the sake of sticking an axle stand or at least using the wheel you have taken off to position under the chassis, which is better than nowt!!
