I think each subscriber to a page should be 'King'.
The picture(s) size and written content being a personal choice. The 'editorial team' will be ready to help set up a page(s) anyway that is wanted!

Of course excellent photographs well shot technically with the Tiger shown at its best are an absolute must.

I hear someone asked if 'eye candy' was permissible and I guess that's OK providing good taste prevails. I should say though that thought is also being given to a 'pin up' garage calendar for 2014.

Anyhow back to the 'T50 Tiger/Owners' book. Here are couple more example pages from the 'editorial team'.
http://www.sunbeamtiger.co.uk/Tiger50/T50_03.pdf

http://www.sunbeamtiger.co.uk/Tiger50/T50_08.pdf

I feel it would be great if we could fill 100 pages with a 100 Tigers plus a few pages on the marque and the Club.
To get the numbers up we would like to make this an 'open offer' to all Tiger enthusiasts. I think we are willing to see a double page for one entry or for folk who want to see their Tigers side by side.

Otherwise I feel we should work a publishing/page order based on first come first served.

I'll get back with some £££/$$$ figures shortly.

What about owners compiling their submissions for the book, based around actual celebrations in 2014, with the book then being made available as a recognition of the previous year's 50th celebrations into 2015. Also, a page at the front or back with facsimile signatures of the VIP guests over 2014, for those unable to meet them in person?
The more I think about this the more I like Tony's idea.

Rather than the book being about Tigers it could also be about the Celebrations of the Tiger's 50th birthday and include a chapter or 2 about the celebrations and get togethers around the World.

It would be a great way of bringing all the Tiger communities together.

It would mean it being printed after the celebrations but would make a fantastic book.

“The TIGER50 Book” Previously announced to STOC

As a part of our celebrations of the Tiger’s 50th birthday next year the Club is looking at producing a unique book featuring exclusively Sunbeam Tigers. We wish to invite members and enthusiasts to subscribe to a personal colour page to display their Tiger using own photographs and text. A small editorial team would compile the book.
It is intended that “TheTiger50 Book” should resemble the book ‘Automobile Quarterly’ and the number printed limited to 150 copies.

It would comprise of 100 pages of which 80 would be allocated to featuring Sunbeam Tigers with the remainder devoted to the history of the car and the Club.
It would be digitally printed in full colour within a sewn hard back cover with the title foil blocked on the face and spine and it would have a facesize of 255mm x 210mm landscape. It would be a ‘keeper’.

The book would be pre-sold to page subscribers and be available by Christmas this year (2013). The 70 or so copies that would not be sold as page subscriptions would be sold through Club Regalia.

Subscribers to a page in “The TIGER50 Book” will be charged £35 and in return shall receive a free copy of the book. However, photographs supplied must be of top quality (please see example in earlier post) and this should be considered prior to subscribing. The Tiger50 Book is intended to celebrate the Sunbeam Tiger in all its forms, resto cases are OK!

Since this is a novel idea for the Club and the Tiger community we seek to pre-sell page subscriptions. Consequently we shall require a 100% subscription before we commit the Club. To that end members and enthusiasts are now invited to contact the Club with expressions of interest.

NO payment should be made at this time.
Perforce this has to be conducted on a first come first served basis.
Please convey your interest in the first instance to the Editor:

The reason I asked is that it would be fun to get my car in The Book Of Graham ( It's what it will end up being called anyway) but I can't 100% gauarantee it will be finished.

I could always 'shop the picture from when I bought it so it is sitting in front of the Taj Mahal (they do a smashing biryani  )

I could work something out if you are accepting progress pics but the background may not be "scenic" and there may not be semi shoed siren on the bonnet.

Book me a page Graham. I'll make it work somehow.

gvickery wrote:The page sequence hasn't been thought about yet. It could be:

- Chassis number order
- By application date/time
- Out of a the hat
By chassis number would be useful, as folk can see their 'build neighbours' from the original Jensen production line.

The Book is full!!

Subscriptions exceed the 80 page allocation out of 100.

I have been asked whether a 2nd Book is possible - a Part 1 & a Part 2.
Not sure presently but if the demand is there from the international community as well as from STOC members, then may be its doable.

Instead of a '2nd' book and for the folk that missed out, is there demand to increase the number in this 'one and only' publication.

There is clearly strong interest for it

Me, I'd like to look at more pics of Tigers 8) 8)

Good point Tony.

I have asked our printer for a new price to publish 150 pages (200 copies).

In the meantime I am contacting every 'subscriber' we have to-date for the 80 page version to get the photography and copy rolling

I am pleased to say that included are: 3 x Le Mans Tigers, 1 x Monster, 4 x race cars, I x Works Rally machine, 6 x Proto / development Tigers, 2 x Police cars, 8 x MKII's, some super MKI's and MKIA's and a handful of project restorations.

We have decided to push on with a 150 page (200 copies) TIGER50 Celebration book. So with page orders standing at 96 the Club now invites members and enthusiasts to top that up to 130 or so.

"The TIGER50 Book" is limited to 200 copies and will be a one-off.

Lou

I will be looking for photos and text copy to be sent to the Club by the end of July but a note on this will be going out shortly to every page subscriber.

We have just passed the 100 pages subscribed for mark and our invitation will stay open for a while yet so as to reach our target of between 125 - 130 subscribed 'Tiger' pages (leaving 20 or so for the Club & Tiger bits)

As to the size of photographs, "The TIGER50 Book" will have a face size of 255mm x 210mm landscape, so the file size of submitted photos depends on how much of the page is to be filled by the photo(s). More on this in the promised note but the file size of the main photograph is going to have to be around 8MB.

The set up of the shot(s) is all important. Everyone knows I'm no photog but here are some photos that caught my eye!!

Peter and all subscribers to the TIGER50 Book of Sunbeam Tigers.

Publication is now delayed until late January 2014. A note to all subscribers is going out today.

The main reason for the delay is that almost all subscriber pages need to be assembled by the Editor, far more than expected.

Also the Club Committee is heavily and voluntarily engaged in other preparations for 2014!! So hang in there please.
