Just had my Tiger insurance renewal from Classic Line in Hinckly. £189 , agreed value with no restrictions on mileage, and free UK breakdown cover.

Wow!

Can I ask how old you are, car value etc, etc?

Hi Martin, I am 65 but have been with Classic Line for the past 5 years and it has always been around that figure. I live in Devon and the current value is £35k. It might be because we live in a low risk area! Try them and see .01455 639000.

Being a low risk age and postcode helps but that still seems like a damned good quote to me.
You must be very pleased.

I'll keep them in mind but I doubt I'll be enquiring about insurance for a while yet. (Car in bits.)

I think this club could do with an insurer who gives us a discount or better rate and perhaps these guys are a good place to start?
Opinions?

Martin,

Don't you have any insurance on your car while you have it in bits. Mine has been insured the whole way through just incase s_ _t happens.

Martin, Mal is right, when my second Tiger was being restored it was insured fire and theft only. Think about it!

I'm paying the same through Hagerty - same value but limited to 3,500 miles pa. I'm 60 and live near High Wycombe so probably medium risk in terms of insurance areas. I insured a previous toy car (not a Tiger) through Footman James for 20+ years and was very happy with their prices but they were quoting a premium of over £450 for the Tiger!
Amazing difference between 2 supposedly specialist insurance companies.

Mentioned it in my earlier thread that FJ seemed a little punchy in their renewal rates.

Managed a cracking deal with Hegarty, lots of cover and choices of using other classics and European breakdown thrown in, which is handy piece of mind.

Perhaps, FJ are playing on owners paying these hefty increase in premiums as classic valuations continue to rise higher.

.........ooops, I mentioned that dirty word again 'valuations' better shut up before I get in trouble again.....

I'm with Hegarty too, £116, 1000 miles, £20K. Used to be with FJ but I just phone them for a laugh now. Check your small print too, things like being covered for theft if your roof is left down

Just checked my Tiger insurance and found out the car is not covered for theft if the hood is down and is out of my site. Have asked my broker to find another company.

Had to go to another company as Classic line could not insure the car being left with the hood down. Carol Nash are ok, sorted.
