Tiger Values

Post by gvickery » Tue Aug 14, 2012 9:13 pm

Classic & Sports Car mag's latest and revised price guide (September issue) is interesting enough:

Image

Condition 4 = Very poor condition / restoration projects
Condition 3 = Average to below-average, capable of being driven but needs long and short-term works
Condition 2 = Extremely good, but not concours-contending condition, in a condition which should need no further expense for thousands of miles.
Condition 1 = Show car, immaculate in every respect, either fully restored or totally original.

I'd hazard these prices are pretty accurate. The MKI Condition 3 number is a touch on the low side based on what I see going through the Club 'market'.

We all know that classic car values pretty much boil down to what people are prepared to pay for them rather than what people want for them.

A few long standing adverts on the net attest to that.

Where do the prototypes lie in the value thing.

How many were/are there, what, for the sake of a better word, variants are they and what would the likely asking price be if one came up for sale?

I'm not after one btw, just crossed my mind.

Good point.

So what you're saying is that a car's value is affected by what's happened to it.

So, on that basis, Gary's HRO is worth about £20 because Gary's owned it. Image

That's my point. It seemed a lot better than usual.Image

That depends on what you personally think of as fancy. One syllable....two?
