Just looking at map to Shakesreare raceway. Can any local tell me, if traveling from south, up A34, would it be better to join M40, or take A44 across. both look about the same but i don't know the A44 or the way for that matter, so if i don't get lost i may see some of you burning rubber tomorow.
Thanks Harry
Thanks Harry
I'm just back from a few weeks in China mostly beyond IT coms - So what happened at the raceway last weekend, did it happen or was it washed out?
I did see a couple of Tigers but they growled through yellow teeth!!

Thanks to BigBob for sorting this out!
Great meet, and a real proper 'petrolhead' mecca is what the dragstrip is all about. Highly recommend the day out to newbies, I lost my 1/4 mile dragstrip run cherry that day - the first being very nerve-racking
A few pics (thanks to Shelly and BigBob) of the event, and links to the videos at the bottom;
Getting ready at dawn
Scrutineering
A rare AF car
Tigers looking cool before their thrashing!
Keen to get the first run in
BigBob showing the way!
A Daihatsu Charade leading Heather Darwin
Great run from Peter Pescud
Oldtimer showing an Aston Martin a thing or two....
The specialist...
Smooth run from Jim Oven
Final race I ran against a Sunbeam Stiletto!!
That Sunbeam Stilleto was something else, here's some incar footage I've now put on Youtube.
I didn't mind losing against a time of 8.36 seconds, I think the shock and excitement of his launch down the runway caused me to mis-shift
Finally, Youtube video when I ran against a Nissan Skyline GTR (that was fun!!)
Best Tiger time (not me) of the day was 12.1 seconds - not shabby!
....and not least, a special thanks to Angela Dandy for throwing a great barbecue at the end of the day's events.

That's one of the STOC originals, "Whispering" Ken Hubbard in works experimental 289-engined AF204.
His nickname came from the extreme quietness of his Tiger as he invariably cruised to victory at the Curborough Sprint Course, near Lichfield.
Ken is in action on page 190 of "Tiger-The making of a Sports Car" by Mike Taylor.

Great to see so many Tigers taking to the strip!
Can we see some more times please?
By comparison here's in-car from Brighton in 2002, my best that day in my 260 was 15.23s. See how narrow it gets and imagine when it was the full mile.
