Just been looking at that.

It just shows how blurred and complicated the whole situation can get regarding authenticity.

If you cut a 12 inches slice of bodywork from across a Mk2 Tiger that contains the bulkhead, the front of the trans tunnel and id plates and grafted it into a series V Alpine, would it be a MK2 Tiger?
If I understand correctly, this would be enough to pass a TAC.

i have heard that this may have been done at one time. they sectioned the front in the same manner. they say it's still a tiger.

By sectioning the front at the bulkhead would mean removing and transfering both top hats, moding the chassis rails, transfering the header tank brackets and rad mountings also? Oh and steering column bracket.

And it would still get a TAC?

It's a mockery

Just looked at that car which appears to be a poorly executed "cut n shut" but its ok as its been endoresed as the genuine article by a TAC inspector

Halleluya, are we finally answering my question of when is a rebuild a reshell. If a 75% Alpine can pass as a TAC Tiger, then why not a reshell or rebuild to some acceptable minimum guidelines. Is there light at the end of the tunnel or is it an MGB

Iv'e just found that Mk2 on the CAT site.

Possibly the front end went down the Jenson assy line but the back 100% sure didn't, and it get's the a TAC?

It's a cut and shut straight through the floor and over the tunnel hachet job, not a chance i'd put my name to that.

If ever any potential buyer should be aware of any Tiger surely it has to be this one.

How can this sort of standard be seen as "BETTER" than using a complete rustfree donor shell? and transfering over the Tiger specific items?

This is nonesense.

Well, is it a safe bet to assume that this car starts a trend then?

If any Tiger deserved the title "ALGER" surely it's this one.

Front half a Tiger.....back's 100% an Alpine with a battary box also.

And it's allowed that all important TAC

If the "TAC" is supposed to secure the breed from the bad guys what on earth's going on here?

Tony, Stop the giggling

Hand's up who'd wanna own this little GEM?

I wouldn't mind but it isn't even welded......it's been brazed along those joints.

Emmmm Top Job that one. Seems a waste of a pair of NOS front wings to me..

Remember the film Herbie where the car broke in two and the rear over took the front.

Still think my reshelled catagory's such a bad thing when the alternative could be this car with a TAC?

Surely your not implying that TAC is encouraging dangerous behaviour?

So what would it be worth when finished? Come to that what would a reshell, restored, original and Alpine V8 be worth if they were all done to the same standard?
