I heard that it was on its way to Australia, where there is a shell waiting. But don't ask what ID it will be reborn with!

Dont think so, the landing charges would double the price and then the quarentine chaps would send it to be destroyed.

Let's be honest now, they may have just asked for the VIN, JAL, axle tag, gearbox tag and logbook to be put in the post.

Dont think you could do that... there needs to be a record of a car coming into the country with those ID's otherwise they wont be able to register it here... no record of the car entering.

As for customs destroying the car.. doubt it.. there was a MKII that came from canada in the early 2000's.. car was in a VERY sorry state.. however it arrived and was "restored" and then sold on at a VERY high price...
