Quick trip to Spa?

3 Tigers are running in the Historic Spa 6Hours race meeting over 23rd-25th September weekend - info: http://www.roadbook.be/spasixhours/en/index.html

Some of us are looking at a short trip going out on the Friday returning on Monday, via Eurotunnel and staying at the usual Belgian 'Faulty Towers' hotel a dozen miles from the circuit. Won't be doing the Nurburgring afterwards this year.

No plans finalised yet but if interested contact:

The last trip 2 years ago was a mix of moderns & Tigers, so don't worry if your Tiger isn't up to it. Was great fun last time, Spa circuit is fantastic circuit to visit.

Spa Update:

3 members are taking the Hull - Zeebrugge ferry crossing on Thursday night 22nd September.
2 members are using Eurotunnel early morning Friday 23rd September and intend meeting the 'Merseysiders' on the road to Spa.
Its approx 3 hours + fuel stops to the circuit.

We shall stay at 'Faulty Towers' our regular haunt (double room B&B = £75 per night all up). Full info available from GV

Awaiting reports from the attendees but according to the results sheet, the Ewan McIntyre / Julian Mazjub black Tiger finished all 6 hours of the headline race, in 53rd, great result!

Chris Beighton and Jon Finnemore finished a close second in the 1 hour "Barry race", British Sports and Saloons, beaten by a Sunbeam Lotus. Doddy and son came 19th!

Don't what happened to Neil Merry in the Masters race, DNF'd after 31 minutes:

In the 1 hour British Gt race the Dod/Dod Tiger came 19th as well as the 2nd for the beighton Tiger.. As for the sunbeam lotus... asssume thats a hot running car.. didnt know people did track work with them. Assume it has the largfer lotus 4 cyl block... can they run the lotus turbo motor in that series?

6 members in 4 Tigers had a great weekend in Spa & all returned safely.

ADU decided to drop all its brake fluid, but luckily 1/2 mile from the hotel. A new brake pipe fitted sat morning sorted that out.
Image
Dodd tiger had fuel supply problem & stopped 200 yards short of finish flag spoiling a great race for them.
Image
other black tiger had eventful race with a trip into the barrier & then needing to stop & change a leaking caliper. But finished the race.

Le-Mans Tiger was in 4th place running strong until the rad split.

Team Tiger have an impressive range of toys now.

Not sure what happened to red tiger.

Recommend the trip to all.
750 miles & 40 gallons petrol used. Worth every penny.

Ominous-sounding rattle ended Neil's race. Looks fun while it lasted though:

The Sunbeam Lotus was apparently running a stroker engine at 2.7 litre putting out 320bhp. In a shell that weighed next to nothing it seemed to go rather well. Look out for Team Tiger replica next season!

Nice to meet all of the Tiger boys staying at Faulty Towers, and a good 'piss up' down 'The Pub'.

Really enjoyed the weekend and even thinking about buying a Tiger, especially as it only cost £135 in fuel to get across Belgium in one!

Hope to see you next year.

Andy/Ken, nice to meet up at the weekend. Best you get a Tiger soon. We didn't see your Porsche with its bonnet up once or at a petrol station... where's the fun in that? You just wasted petrol money in the "pub". See you next time in a proper car.
