Whilst basking in the glorious sunshine and getting the Tiger ready for a road trip to Germany in a few weeks, I noticed by sheer accident that one of the steering rack gaitors had perished. Somewhat surprised but clearly an inferior component, with suppliers trying to keep costs down! - Rant over!

Only been in place for a couple of years, and already split. Will be speaking to the MOT garage who gave me a clean bill of health a few months back...

Hardly surprised then to find the old rubber wasn't a quality component!

Amazingly for once, the car is running fairly well, 85 miles on weds night & nothing fell off/broke. So started to sort out the next project.

An injection system with Mustang trickflow manifolds, 42lb injectors, Emerald ECU, coil packs instead of distributer.
Should be trouble free when sorted! Moving with times. As a new Tiger would have fitted nowadays. 500 hp & 25mpg......maybe.

Had a elbow brazed to the vent hole on the top cover of the gear box. Fitted it, rotated it back into position and bolted it all back up. Took it for a thrash :D

Today I am going to give it a wash. Nice sunny day here so we will take it for a drive somewhere and find a nice cup of coffee .

Fitted the recently recovered centre console and ash tray to match up with the new seats - also in time for the German trip. Initially couldn't work out where the ash tray went, (as my console was originally from an Alpine), but found some piccies on the web and now all is in situ. Earlier today fitted the bracket to the bottom hose which has been missing.

All in all an easier weekend than last week when we fitted power steering. Saturday was bad enough in 30C heat but Sunday was even worse with a stinking hangover - not nice being upside down under the dash when you're feeling sick!

Tomorrow I'll ride my push bike for a couple of hours in the sun and pretend I'm on the Champs Elysees - maybe with another hangover!

Well I can't say I did it... but on Friday I helped Malcolm Sedman and Andy Carter replace the splined hubs on ADU 638B with the regular Tiger items (pending sourcing re-produced splines as the taper on the Tiger looks to be a unique Dunlop item) and replace the exhaust system with another set of the mild steel version. Also ahead of the Schloss Dyck Classic Days excursion!

Just need a rolling road power run / test on Friday at Austec in Crawley

Yes, it was a bit warm and humid at the weekend, but ...

Opened-up the clearance on the fan-shroud and re-fitted - wondered what the "tinging" noice was when pulling hard in 1st gear!
Made a guard for the oil cooler and fitted.
Wired up the o2 sensor and gauge so can keep an eye on the carb tuning - ordered some larger jets for the secondaries yesterday, running a little lean for my liking.
Stripped down the master cylinder because stuck, decided needs replacing (already had fitted a repair kit about 10 yrs ago), ordered a Willwood 0.88 (arrived this morning - looks nice, hoe to fit this evening).

Still plenty to do in prep for Schloss Dyke, but had see the light....

Nothing. I've hit the wall.
First, check that your brakes are functioning correctly-both hydraulics and pads/discs.

Second, check your level of intoxication is below the UK legal limit.

Third, check your insurance is up-to-date and then sue the wall for aggravated damages to Tiger's front/rear end and hurt feelings/breach of your human rights.

stuart its much easier with the seat out and use a small jack to jack thecolumn into place .bet u had a headache at that angle

Well, I changed the brake and clutch fluids, checked the pads for wear and adjusted the brakes. NEVER use the jack on its own, always support the car elsewhere, just in case, especially whilst bleeding the clutch!
