That's an interesting sale as technically it's not an original as it required the use of a series V body to repair it, but it is definitely Tiger pricing. Interesting to see if it sells. It was a pity that it wasn't restored earlier before the original body was beyond repair.

Its always fun when people try and add the shelby asscoiation to up a price known as the "shelby sunbeam tiger"
The description makes it sound like they swapped all the Tiger specific parts into an alpine shell.. so alger.. then again.. its not the only MKII alger on the market worldwide.. but at least these owners are open about whats transpired (though i doubt the owner of the one im thinking of is aware of what he has).
There is a MKII on the STOC board in the USA that is 90K USD.. its a stunning looking car.. and has all the correct parts and some nice options., TAC'd and restored by people who know the cars well.. i'd be spending my hard earned on that car.. there is also a MKII in the UK on STOC that went up recently.. missing the wheel arch trim and sill mouldings and a few other bits like aircleaner.. but overall looked clean.
Will be interststing to see if this car gets any bites.. might be ideal car to buy iff you had a MKII resto missing lots of parts.

As long as people know it's re-bodied, I don't think the market will come to them.martin172 wrote:This car has been for sale for a few months now.
It keep being relisted.
Personally, I think they will be waiting a long time for that to sell at that price. Perhaps they are waiting for the market to come to them.

i tried to buy this car before xmas ,it wants a lot of work ,i had a few emails from the owner .you could easy spend 25k on it .so in my mind 30k is a bit rich ,the mk2 in classifieds for 38k is a bargain by comparison.

I've thinned out this thread a bit as we were getting way off topic!
Seems to me both unusual and brave to come right out up front with the re-body admission. I believe for the best since otherwise I presume discerning prospective buyers would do authenticity 'due diligence' to establish it is the real McKoy?
Its a pity though that the whole thing is let down by the poor particulars listing and even poorer photographs. The machine should at least be shown in its 'best light'?

Interesting discussion
At least the seller is genuine and open with description and for somebody who wants a MK2 title with all the correct chrome trim fittings & later spec' body seems to be the right entry point. You could of course spend twice the money and more for something that is factory original (BUT COMPLETE) especially in the present climate with collectors/investors finding a home for cash (that's yielding no interest) buying or should that be "chasing" values of rarer classics.
That's my concern at present that buyers of classic cars (especially at the top-end) are not true long-term enthusiasts. Sadly, seen it all before.....
Indeed, pity this seller doesn't have a more comprehensive "sellers" description and detailed photographs to warrant the money being asked.

Or you could buy the genuine California restored mk11 in the classifieds for £38k instead?
Or a one owner mk11 80k miles for sale in California @ $55000 on Hemmings?
It seems there are a few sensible vendors out there after all!
