Wing water channel repair

Post by Tigerfan » Wed Oct 14, 2009 11:34 am

HI, Does anybody know of a supplier of a repair panel for the Water Channel on the top of a nearside front wing, the side with the Bonnet stay attached. I'm sure that this used to be available. Alternatively does anybody have a scrap front nearside front wing that a good water channel could be salvaged from ? Thanks Rich

Have you tried Brian Postle at Sunbeam Spares Co? He has most panals availible and its generally agreed his panals are the best availible.

Hi Ash, unfortunately Brian does'nt do this repair panel anymore. Seems like there's less demand these days so he can't get anybody interested in making them up. Thanks anyway Rich

Its not a complicated shape is it? I would have thought it could be fabricated by any decent bbody shop or welder.

Hi, Yes I know, I'm just being lazy. I will make up the part next week. Compared with the other repair work I've done on the Tiger it will be a doddle! Thanks anyway, Rich

I did some floor pans on a Triumph Stag 2 weeks ago. I had to make corrugations on the panel for strength, and to look correct. It was quite easy really, and I got a lot of satisfaction from it. I bought new outrigger sections though as they were only £17 each, and made from metal too thick to bend myself.

The worst part was grinding and wire brushing under the car to get clean metal to weld to. I have now got a proper helmet with eye and noise protection which I can wear a dust mask without getting fogged up so next time should be more comfortable. :)

Hi, spent all day today and have made up and fitted the channel. A bit of a pig because the channel bends in both directions. luckily I have both Mig and Gas welding so that helped, regards Rich
