Hi Robin I agree with all but one point. I dont think the difference between a fraud and heavily restored car is clear cut. Ive made my point on that with examples. I would like someone from the 'its a fraud' camp to give an opinion on what that physical fraud is. I understand the deceipt and I like...

That looks great. Fantastic to see some lead loading. Are you now going to clear varnish the body? Shame to cover up that hard work :)

What gets me is that we all believe there is an element that want to pass off a converted Alpine as a Tiger and defraud. Especially if the car has history. However those that insist that reshelling is fraud have not qualified at what point a car is a reshell as apposed to a heavily restored car. To ...

But oh yes i forgot it has that all important TAC? I would have thought it more than possible. If you strip off everything you would/could from a car being restored all in one go you would be left with front inner wheel arch still attached to front chasis. Maybe even these would be parted. Everythi...

I too would leave it on the forum. He could have been drinking! He does have an input but I agree with Robin. If we cant decide what is an acceptable rebuild or rebody, a car that has knowingly been destroyed come back to life (a fake) and passed a TAC, then theres no chance the DVLA would be able t...

Happy New Year. If a reshell passed a TAC would it be classed as a genuine Tiger and then the disclosure made, would it then still be thought of as a Tiger. But how much of the original Tiger would need to be kept. Wouldnt it make sense that to be considered a Tiger it would have to have certain pan...

It seems to me that with the level of replies and excuse me if I sound blunt most people arnt bothered if a Tiger is authentic as long as most of the bits are there even if they have been removed, repaired and replaced into either a Alpine or back into the Tiger. Once any part has been removed it wi...

I assume putting this info of body type is not worrying anyone but I will for now try not to put too much info here. But then maybe we should to help those buying a car. It would be very difficult to do reshell without leaving signs. But then again a reshell maybe acceptable. Does the club want to b...

Its an Alger then, I dont think they had Migs back then. So we now have 3 opinions. Only joking, mine look like divebombing seagulls  Maybe we should first define what we are trying to achieve. I think, as has been suggested the TAC could be better. Should the question be how can it be improve...

Sounds good, We dont want to go into too much detail, but as part of the process some panels are missed out of the PS assembly, some are also spot welded into place as an addition. Then the rest are welded in later. Spot welding when the car was mostly assembled probably became difficult or expensiv...

Which is why I believe you are strongest placed to put a definition of what constitutuse a Tiger. Your belief is one end of the spectrum which is valued. As in my 1st post a rotten Tiger documented as bit by bit restoration is classed as something different to an all rust cut away in one go Tiger to...

Dear Red Racer and Micheal I dont think you are different in your reasons for a common desscription of waht entails a Tiger. Can I suggest you both agree on what that desciption entails so that the club can vote on what a legal description should be. Should that be from rad mounts and exhaust mounts...

So, keeping the bulkhead and replacing everything else makes it a Tiger regardless of whether it has a 302, midget rack, bimbo brakes, stainless exhuast, alloy wheels, upgraded rad, carpets, soft top, rubbers, 5 stud hubs discs all round, IRS, respray, etc etc. Im just trying to tease out what is ac...

My cousin owns the company that restored Bentley old number 1. It was owned by a bank as an investment after they had paid £1m for it. They came sell it and lost a lot of money after prices fell. The bank then tried to sue the previous owner to get some money back. Their argument was it wasnt old no...
