Go back and read Michael's post and also maybe read the criteria for TAC on the STOA site. Quite a lot of modification/repairs can be done and still have enough to pass an inspection. As for Mal's Tiger, there is absolutely no disputing what it is... an authentic Tiger!! Hmmm, its clear you havent ...

Simon, It does still have the spare wheel mount and battery clamp tags there. The sadles have been removed by us to clean up the boot properly but the clips for the jack etc were missing. Which I need to find along with a jack etc. Am I missing something else :?: . My panel man has smoothed and fil...

It really sounds like us 'save the car' chaps are pretty much agreed on whats accceptable. The next question for me is what would a newby be willing to pay for a car that has been reshelled. I would have thought that would be partly if not mostly determined by what they thought the resale value woul...

Ash, your another one for saving Tigers. This is the last time I explain for me what I see as the TAC limitation. Lets take Mals carand I can explain with a picture. (sorry Mal Im not trying to imply your cars not authentic.) http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r64/kiwimal/ST/3e728210.jpg In this pic...

Hi Simon, You keep coming back with the same question regarding the point at which a restoration becomes a re-body. With your in-depth knowledge of body work surely you can judge that? :? I don't think the club can tell you that either. As I said to Paul, over complicating the criteria is not the w...

Paul again I mostly agree with you. And you seem to have some similar experience and expertise with me in knowing what your talking about body wise. Theres no confusion as to what TAC is and stands for. As for how its done the body is the important part. Its all about what Jenson did and what Presse...

Hi Mal I mostly agree, but for me the problem arises when trying to check if a cars a restoration or a reshell. However I get the feeling the consensus is swinging toward not differentiating between the two. For now identifying categories is enough. Sorry the chasis term was coined from an earlier p...

Ive seen cars where the chasis has been cut out bit by bit and replaced after repair. It becomes very difficult if not impossible to distinguish between that car and one where an Alpine shell has been used and Tiger parts grafted in. Beside it couldnt really be classed as a complete if the spots are...

I think theres some compromise to be had on point 3 though. For the life of me I really can't understand how an Alpine conversion can ever be a Tiger unless it was built at the Jensen factory. As previously stated, if the Tiger is in such a bad state let it go!! There will always be the Alger stigm...

Hi Martin Years ago when the value of the car wasnt worth that much it was never an issue. Its the value of the car that has driven this, well thats my opinion. I would say though, that if the value was not there, restoration or fraud would not be happening. I dont know the exact car/incident/date w...

Hi Robin I dont think the difference between a fraud and heavily restored car is clear cut. Ive made my point on that with examples. I would like someone from the 'its a fraud' camp to give an opinion on what that physical fraud is. I understand the deceipt and I like good conversion too. Hi Simon, ...
