12273 views, 406 replys from 30 people from 238 forum members. It would be interesting to have a poll vote on the topic. Hi Mal, While this doesn't directly impact on where we live(not at this stage anyway), it is non the less interesting. Even if the DVLA pass through the proposal as spoken about ...

I'd like to think both Gary and 'Meadowhog' know there is more in Jensen's handiwork than a 'panel man' can do. Why is there this curiosity about beating the method? Is it supposed to suggest the methods of inspection can be beaten and the process easily fooled? Graham The curiosity comes from not ...

fair comment .but i also think a good panel man could replicate one that would pass a tac. does a tiger fail tac if it has had the id plate rivits removed ? No but it would help decide what it is in the ranking. I think theres a good chance your right about a good panel man. They would both have to...

"Would you like to see a formal authentication scheme introduced by STOC?" Logistics of implementing such a scheme would be interesting. Who would cover the costs? can the STOC impose a levy to an owner to carry out such an 'authentication' I imagine it would be similar to the USA system. It seems ...

I for one completely, agree with you Graham. More reason to have pointers for the potential buyer. I know a lot of this info is out there but if you dont know where to find it....................STOC could be the one stop answer.

Sensible words gentleman, should we start a new thread on 'when is Tiger not a Tiger' to split away from acceptability of reshells. To my mind this would discuss the finer points of Jenson built cars, although I do have reservations of giving away too much detail. The problem I have on this thread i...

Hi Meadowhog, While there are some good points there which would certainly put to rest some of the concerns raised during this post, it also leaves some concerns unchanged. While it will make re-bodying a rusted or damaged Tiger legal, there is still the issue of allowing the id to be transferred t...

Heres a tough question: Can Robin and RRT agree on something. Whilst mulling that over read what ive found in Classics Monthly. Classics Monthly launches its campaign for a change in the law to save monocoque-bodied favourites such as the Ford Cortina, Triumph TR7 and Citroen DS. Perception of what ...

I have had several friends restore alpines and tigers that the conversion people on this board would not dare attempt to rebuild due to "effort and cost".. I had a friend pour 7 years and the best part of 35K into an alpine body.. ther car probably should have been scrapped as a parts car.. but he ...

Hi Michael Calming words, thanks. There is nothing I disagree with. Where I differ from RRT is Im not interested in swapping VINs. I have never mentioned swapping VINs. Recognising reshells as Tigers is not really what I want to discuss I believe that is slightly different thread. Where I believe my...

People are always going to have differing opinions on the subject, but the mods may have been crude but they were made by Jensen. I have no problem with someone reshelling a Tiger with the running gear minus the engine from one car. But it is does not belong in the same category as a genuine untouc...

RRT I said the Tiger would pass a TAC inspection in that state and afterwards if it had been re-panelled / restored. I did not say that being re-shelled with a Tiger body it would pass a TAC inspection. Please read what is said and not what you want to see! Could you give us your opinion as to why ...

Naaaaa. Just the usual, wings, inner wings, sills, doors, crucifix, valance, floors, nothing too major. The core of the Tiger is still there.
