Well it's red, that's a start.

Wilber, if a picture is worth a thousand words, that video must be worth in the millions. :D Do the Healeys have a lever shock on the axle or is that arm below it some sort of suspension link? Whatever that arm is, it is certainly doing a big job of controlling axle rotation and consequent spring wr...

Robin, I do have a set of the bolt on Traction Masters, but have not tried them yet. The caltrac design is said to be much better. The axle is going to twist in the opposite way of wheel motion. Under acceleration the left hand side wheel will want to rotate counterclockwise and the axle clockwise a...

Caltracs
I am seriously considering having a go at fabricating a set of caltrac type of anti-tramp bars for my Tiger. I understand some of the guys in the UK use them on their racing Tigers. Does anyone recall seeing pictures of them on the forum they could point out to me? I am told they might hang down a b...

Although this is not part of an answer to your question, just thought I would add a general info point. It is old information for many but not everyone seems to know it. Should you ever be running stock wheels again for a concours event, or perhaps as a spare tire, keep in mind the factory lug nuts ...

Looks like number 45 is sporting the latest wrinkles in directed air flow coach work. Is Pressed (guardrail) Steel still in business? :!: Seriously though, it is painful to see classics like this and the e-type get bent like that. Sorry for the owners and thankful its not me and my car. Cheers, Gene

Michael, thanks so much for the information. I will be doing that search in just a moment. I may just try the semi-gloss/satin first and see how I like it. I can always go to full gloss later. I noticed in some of the National pictures a couple of engine bays seemed to have black parts done in gloss...

Engine bay component black
 I am sure this topic has been beat to death in the past, so hopefully someone can point me to a thread with the answers. I have not had much luck with the search function. Operator error I am sure. I want to repaint the various black items in my engine bay. I am inclined to go gloss black on ...

Hi Roy, I think you will see several recommendations for Edelbrock and Weiand manifolds. What is your maximum rpm likely to be? Even the old F4B is still said to be a relatively good design with up to 5500 maximum range. You can supposedly get a bit more by cutting a 1/2 inch or so slot in the chamb...

Dizzy Tuning
I recently offered up some thoughts on dizzy tuning in conjunction with the forthcoming dyno day being planned. There was a suggestion by Robin that a tech tip might be useful. After giving some thought to that, I decided I would be just reinventing the wheel for the most part. I would like to recom...

Hi Mal, got your PM on this unfortunate news as well. I must say you seem to be handling it rather well. What is plan B? Does anyone on the forum here know of or have any experience with MGServicesHeathrow? I see them on ebay selling new and reconditioned steering racks, LHD and RHD and they ship wo...

Mal, great news on the spline fit. And yes, I will be doing some checking on my steering soon. I have a rebuilt 289 about to go in and will be giving the steering a good going over when I have the cross member off. For what its worth, my pinion shaft is a bit different in that the pinch bolt passes ...

Mal, so far so good as they say. An additional thing to check... Compare the splines "pitch" on the Oxford pinion shaft with the ones on the stock rack before you get too deep into the conversion process. Are they the same pitch (for lack of a better term)? Also compare the diameter of the splined e...

Hi Mal, you are quite welcome. On the centre of rack tube to splined pinion shaft distance... I am unsure from the drawing if that is measured from the centre of the tube to the centre of tip of the shaft or to the centre of the shaft where it enters the rack body. If to the tip, I would agree with ...
