Robin Rootes did order a couple of 5 bolt 289 engines from Ford which ended up in MK1 'AF' cars. The motors have assembly dates of 19 June 1964. Ned is right. If you need to double check the essential casting numbers look at this web page: http://www.raceabilene.com/kelly/hotrod/engine2.html . I guess you don't have the original valve covers and Ford spec sticker on your 1A . So this should at least help confirm the block you have. Graham ST...
