Hi. I have both a Tiger and a TR6 and both dashes are similar thickness and the the hinges, lock and stay from the TR6 would I think be adapatable to use when fitting a lid to the Tiger dash. If you go to say Moss-europe.co.uk website and look a the TR6 Dash page, it will become clearer. Presumably ...

Hardtop restoration

Hi Guys, I placed a topic under `general questions' re help with restoring a hardtop. Surprisingly there has been no response. Perhaps I placed it in the wrong category?. The basis of the topic was that I am looking for a set of side window frames. If anybody is interested or can advise please refer...

Hard top restoration

Hi Guys, Thought I would spend the winter months refurbishing a hardtop that I have had in the back of my workshop for about 10 years or more. Generally its in quite reasonable condition with the normal decay problems on the rear rail and corners, all repairable though. However I dont seem to have t...

Rear wheel spacers

Hi Guys, I have 6Jx14 inch Minilite style wheels (made by Two Gates Wheels) fitted to my tiger which on the rear need to spaced off about 1 inch to fill the wheel arch. The options seem to be to use longer studs and 1 inch spacers or spacers that can be bolted to the original studs with the nuts flu...

Starting problems

Hi Guys, I posted a question on the general forum re: my starting difficulties, but got no replies or comment. I think the problem is that on cranking the engine, there is only 5 to 7 volts at the Ballast resistor? Book says there should be min 9volts. Sometimes the engine will start, but often floo...

Starting difficulties

Hi Guys, Having difficulty sometimes starting my Tiger. I have concluded that its an ignition problem as I have just fitted a new Edelbroc 500 carb but no improvement. Having checked the voltage at the ballast resistor when cranking, the voltage is only 5-6 volts. I believe it should be min 9 volts....

Edelbrock 500 cfm carb - starting problems

Hi Guys, I have just replaced my Holly carb with a new Edelbrock 500 carb. I also fitted the heat insulator gasket combination between my Edelbrock 289 Manifold. The carb is a manual choke. Whilst the car goes well with this carb, my problem is with starting, especially when hot. In particular from ...

Thanks Guys for all your replys. Going to see if I can establish which clutch is fitted by removing the starter motor as Red Barron has suggested. Depending on what I see I may change the clutch or fit a servo under the back seat as also suggested. If replacing the clutch, has anybody written up rem...

Thats interesting. Spoke with Real Steal who seem to think the new Diaphram clutches available for the past 5 years or so are considerably lighter that the original Ford spring clutch. Problem is I'm not sure what has been fitted to my car. The engine was rebuilt proffessionally about 12 years ago a...

Tiger Clutch

Hi Guys, Having been a Motorcycle RTA in my youth I have a damaged left ankle. Although in the past this has not caused me too much trouble, I am now finding the pressure required to depress my Tiger clutch problamatic. I do not have a problem with either of my other classics, MGA TC and Triumph TR6...

Holly or Edelbrock Carburettor

Hi Guys, Following on from my previous post re: Holly 4160. it now seems that a previous owner fitted a Holly 390 cfm probably from a Rover V8. The carb has not been re jetted so probably not suitable. Thinking about replacing with a Edelbrock 500 cfm or Holly 570 cfm. Appreciate any comments and ad...
