Does the engine start and run at all?
I suspect the idle circuit might be faulty.

Just swap the rev counter for a 4-cylinder one. Halves the revs (oh no it doubles doesnt it? Maybe a 12 cyl one then) I could easily recal a four to make it read much lower Re wire wool, it is so fine it might catch fire. I bought some stainless steel pan scourers at Aldi that could be be wor...

Rear View Door Mirror

I bought a bullet style mirror to fit onto the drivers doors just alongside the quarter light. When I came to fit it, I found that there is another small panel behind the outer skin, and it prevents me getting access to the mirror bolt heads. Long time since I pulled a door apart. Does anyone know i...

Hi Simon, It took me months searching my starting problems before I discoverd that apperently the carburettor needs to be soaked for petrol before it would start, that's why I have to wait the 30 seconds. Regards, Peter I have the same situation. If my car has been standing for a few weeks or more ...

The gauge should work when connected either way. The gauge reading may be in error if the regulator or the sender are out of limits, also the gauge itself may be inaccurate, they are very crude devices.

Re: T 5 gear box

I have been offered a T 5 gear box from a rwd sierra cosworth. Can any one tell me what is required to fit it to a 5bolt block Tiger? The leaver looks like it may be a bit to far back, so is this box an option? Thanks Harry The gear lever is too far back and cossie one is prob not specd for high to...

I cant see how you could do that. There is only about an inch gap each side between the bin and the mounting points, so no room for a reel.

My plan was that the reel would be down the side and the shoulder strap would be coming from the standard rear anchor point.

While on this subject, for a long time I have wished I could have the convenience of retractable (inertia reel) belts in my Mk1 Tiger. I have looked at many Tigers but I am surprised no one seems to have bothered. For the Mk1a and Mk2 you could fit reels onto the original back/side mounting points, ...

Weather forecast look promising, so I shall be there in my (scruffy) Tiger. I was there last Sunday at the Breakfast meeting. It was such a miserable wet morning, but since quite a few turned out despite the weather I thought it was only fair that I gave them a bit of a show up the test hill - wheel...

Tremec 5spd's were designed to replace the T5 as they were not that strong. Cheers Mal. Sorry Mal, not clear what you mean by that. I think you are saying that the very early Borg Warner T5 compared to the Tremec T5? All later T5s were uprated. Regarding strength, the T5 which is now plentiful (in ...

T5 Tremec 5-speed gearbox conversion

This has probably been discussed many times, so apologies for any repetition. I have just bought a T5 with a view to fitting to my own Tiger some time this year. This is mainly to make use of the overdrive gear for longer journeys but having a lower first gear for quicker starts and less clutch stra...

Thanks Bob, a good tip for replacing one bad stud. But I was thinking of replacing all studs for longer ones as I am using a spacer with alloys, so I might still try pulling the hub again if I can get hold of a suitable puller ( now have an offer of a Triumph puller that might just fit).

Hub Puller & wheel studs

I have a bad wheel stud and want to change it. I also find the studs are just too short for alloy wheels so want to fit longer studs. I tried to remove a stud but realised that there is no room without pulling the hub. I tried a universal 2/3bolt hub puller fitted onto two studs, but I felt that any...

Well, I made a thick gasket from some special heavy duty gasket material that we had at Brooklands. This alone was not thick enough so I added a standard gasket and some Hylomar. Now its all back it runs fine. The other job was to remove and check the starter motor. Althought it never failed to star...
