crank spigot bearing
To my knowledge 260 and early 289 motors used the 1/2 " thick bush ( 0.5 " ) Your measurements all seem correct ie 35 x 12.7 x 17 mm bore. I removed mine using a slide hammer to which I attatched a single leg from a 3 legged puller. This was just small enough to pass through the bore and hook on to ...

air cleaner
My original air cleaner top has been chrome plated. Would this have been a factory option and if so can it be de-chromed and painted? My local powder coating company says that they are unable to remove chrome plating. I presume because it is so hard.

Thanks, I think I will do that.

My original Jaeger tachometer is now pretty inaccurate. I notice that Merlin Motorsport sell a 100mm VDO tachometer suitable for 4, 6, and 8 cylinder engines. Has any Tiger owner tried this instrument ?

fuel inlet pipe
I seem to have a slight petrol leak from the inlet pipe where it joins the ford 2- barrel carb. Does this union have a sealing washer or does it rely on the flared end to seal it like a brake pipe?

water pump
Has any Tiger owmer ever removed the water pump with the fan still attatched? There is not enough clearance on my car between the radiator and the end of the water pump spindle to remove the fan and I would prefer not to take out the radiator if I can avoid it.

My brother spent 40 years with Valvoline Oil Co. as Chemist and Technical Advisor and he assures me that Valvoline Racing Oil VR1 contains adequate Zinc additive for this engine . The additive also contains Phosphorus in the form of Zinc di alkyl di thio phosphate. All information can be found on Va...

clutch adjustment
You can adjust the pushrod more without doing any harm. There is at least 1/2 " adjustment possible. Just remember the more clearance between the pushrod nut and the clutch lever the lower the biting point for the clutch.

bellhousing
I notice that McLeod are now making a modular bellhousing for SBF engines so that any transmission can be used. Eg early toploader HEH-E can be fitted behind 6-bolt block without any modifications such as drilling and tapping the factory 6- bolt bellhousing. Apparently it can use either 157 or 164 t...

tiger shots
There are a few good glimpses of a tiger in the 1966 film Bunny Lake is Missing starring Kier Dullea , Laurence Oliver and Carol Lynley. Although the film was in black and white, I think the car was Mediterranean Blue. I think it appeared in three scenes. A particularly good scene is when Kier Dulle...

clutch
I replaced my clutch 3 years ago and used a standard diaphram spring unit from the club. The clutch is great but I did have to replace the slave cylinder pushrod with a longer one as there was too much clearance between the adjusting nut and the clutch release arm even with the nut at its maximum ad...

Could someone tell me how many bolts should attatch the front part of a Tiger boot lid hinge to the body., I can only feel one on each hinge when reaching in from the boot.
