Boot Hinges
Martin, the original boot hinges are made from a poor quality alloy, and the thread strips easily if overtightened. It may be better for you to buy some new repro hinges, which are made from a better material and they will be new chrome. If you want to try and repair them, use Time Serts rather than He...

Brads Tiger
Hi Brad by sleeving the exhaust hole through the chassis you will loose some of the clearance for the exhaust pipe. The original pass through was open and reinforced with the cut out over piece. Replacement repair sections do come with a larger hole and may be of benifit when fitting a larger exhaus...

Tiger Clutch
Hi Rich, as has been stated the diaphragm clutch cover will be lighter in operation than the original coil spring type. You can tell what you have in the car now by removing the starter motor and looking into the bell housing with a small mirror and light, angled just right, and you can see the clutc...

A Couple Of Things
Martin, you can replace the mirror glass in your mirror head by making a cardboard template and going into a motor factors, buy a new replacement glass bigger than the template and then take them to a glass cutting shop for them to cut and polish the edges. When that is done a few spots of silicone a...

Cooling system preasure
Hello Tim, the top radiator hose will become hard during and after running, that is due to the pressure in the cooling system,of the hot coolant and gases. It is also dependent on the Rad Cap vent relief valve setting, what is your cap rated at? You should always run a thermostat in the system, purely ...

Martin,
do you mean the clips that hold the TIGER badge and the shields to the body,if so they are called "Friction Bush "
And to replace the mirror to the stem, you need to try and carefully push the spherical ball into the socket of the mirror back, perhaps a little lubricant might help.

Seal Orientation
Hello Martin,
the door seal when fitted should have the longer edge towards the car body so that the door pushes the seal lip to contact the door opening.

Seal Orientation
Hi Martin,
the seal fits into the door channel with the foot of the seal and the leading edge protruding towards the door opening in the body, that way the back of the seal is against the door shell and skin.

Water from Exhaust
Hi Jerry,
it is probably just condensation that you are witnessing,as you say it is on start up.
You also mention a marginal loss of coolant, how much and over what time span/mileage

Holley or Edelbrock Carburettor
Hi Tigerfan,
the vacuum port that is for the distributor is the higher of the two and on the left when looking straight at the carb,i.e on the Off Side of the car.
The other is a full time vacuum for an air motor that might control an air cleaner flap etc.

Coolant Leak
Hi Mal, the coolant leak will not be coming from the 2 set screws under the water pump as they screw into the timing chain cover,so the only leak from there could be oil. It is more likely that the engine coolant leak is coming from the small hole under the water pump snout,it is there behind the fr...

Martin, to check the camshaft you will need to remove it from the block, being careful not to "nick" the camshaft brgs whilst you withdraw from the front of the block. At the same time you can check the end float of the timing chain sprocket and thrust plate to the camshaft that you will be using in ...

Martin,
if you do not know the history/mileage of the engine then new hydraulic lifters should be used in the rebuild.
Have you checked the camshaft lobes have not worn through the hardened surface,if so they will destroy new lifters very quickly.

Collapsing Lower Radiator Hose
Tony,Tim, what causes the lower hose to collapse is the suction of the water pump, and the more the engine revs the more the hose is constricting the flow. This is a fairly common problem with a long hose,so that is why Ford Mustangs etc, have a sprial spring inside the hose to stop the collapse and a...
