Is that beacause your Tiger would be a B? What would the neighbours think. But seriously Id still love for you to give some physical description of a reshell and at what point it ceases to be a restoration. If you cant I dont see how you can legitimately argue that there 'isnt' a difference between ...

This is why physical descriptions of what can be done to a car for any categories to be legitimised. Or is that job being left to STOC?

Paul suggested the categories way back but whats the point without boundaries/guidlines to define them?

99% agree. I wouldnt bother with the D, 'other' would be Alpine. Im thinking a more detail of the differences and being specific about what panels can be changed Its easy for us to say where we think a Tiger should be on a level of restoration. Getting our point across is another thing, as at presen...

Paul, what you just said was my next line, we agree on just about everything. Where Im going is, whats the difference between a resto and reshell. The categories fits well this, but whats needed is the description of each category. A reshell is just that, all the Tiger parts cut out and fitted into ...

Re: A question for the knowledgable ??

It was agreed a while back that these parts are replaced quite normally as they rot so badly and if replaced would pass TAC. Im trying to get to point where we can agree that a car is still a resto rather than a reshell. May be the question should be 'what parts can be replaced and still allow the c...

Re: A question for the knowledgable ??

I want: 'this is a reshell------------------' and 'this is a rebuild------------------- Is there anybody out there apart fro Paul and my self that would to have a stab at a description without morality? Isn't it plainly obvious the difference between the two? :? One you are talking replacing the co...

Re: A question for the knowledgable ??

I would depend on how bad the car is. Part of the arguement here is that all the 'correct factory pattern' parts are already part of an Alpine shell. To my mind the later would be more authentic than a reshell, or a car that has been heavily restored with after market or OEM panels. My big problem ...

Re: A question for the knowledgable ??

Given the actual acquisition and man-hour labour costs (assuming not free labors), would there be a more accurate cost benefit to re-shell or correct factory pattern metal restoration? Keeping in mind that a shell still requires more than a bit of alterations. I would depend on how bad the car is. ...

So does that mean that we 'all' agree thata reshell is acceptable to be called a Tiger as long as its disclosed as a Reshell (not an Alger). This should be categorised as a reshell and carried out to a certain standard. What I dont want is these flippin Algers mascerading as Tigers  What I mean...

Yeh, Id want one too, even a wreck to reshell. I made an enquiry about the car. The previous owner said it was welded together badly, but then maybe that makes more authentic. Its got a 260 and a 3 speed auto. Toploader being thrown in. 'It does have vented discs and '3' pot calipers? It was o...

OK before someone jumps in, there are exhuast brackets, panhard mount, exhuast pass through, missing parts like battery box and quite a few extra holes etc. But should the question be 'before Tiger parts are added is the car an Alpine or Tiger'. At this point of manufacture its physically an Alpine ...

100% Alpine obviously
