Re: Differential stamping

Jerry

Interesting to see that the Axle number quoted by Peter is one different to the axle fitted to my car!

My build date, Chassis and JAL numbers are all very near to yours as well, in fact they probably both went down the Jensen production line at the same time?

Marvelous :D

Re: Differential stamping

Jerry I contacted the Coventry Culture Archive based at the Transport Museum. For a fee, they issued a scan of the Jensen ledger page with your car details confirming the build date, JAL/Chassis numbers, build ROTA details, Engine, Gearbox, Axle numbers and even the original Key numbers. You also ge...

Re: Differential stamping

Hi Jerry The Axle number is near to the Propshaft Flange on the main casing (See attachment). Not sure what the relevance of the 6 digit Gearbox number is, presumably later gearboxes have a higher number? The Gearbox number is listed on the Jensen build ledger, so you can check via this if its the o...

Re: Possible Holley Carburetor troubles

Just ordered a kit from Mustang Maniacs, not a Genuine Holley Kit but supplied via Rock Automotive I'm led to believe, so hopefully reasonable quality and Ethanol resistant, I've given the Carburetor Model and Part Number so I just hope it fits. A genuine Holley Kit was over 3 times the price of the...

Re: Possible Holley Carburetor troubles

Can anyone advise the best place to get a rebuild kit in the UK? I've been told Mustang Maniacs and Realsteel Had a reply off Mustang Maniacs for a Kit but it's not a genuine Holley Kit and I can't get an answer if the kit is Ethanol resistant or not? Had a look on E-Bay and someone does list one bu...

Re: temp sender

I would think if you have a Multi-meter and set it to the Ohms (Resistance) setting you should be able to get a reading between the central terminal and an earth on the engine. I've no Idea what the reading should be, but I would imagine an increase in Engine temperature will show a reduction (Or is...

Re: build date

I found out the exact date of final dispatch for mine by quoting the Chassis and JAL numbers to the Coventry Museum Archive for a small fee.

Graham Vickery may be able to help out too?

Re: New ethanol fuel

I've recently had a bout of rough running with my Tiger and I'm pretty sure it's down to the Fuel causing problems, although I normally try and use Esso Synergy+ Fuel which I thought was Ethanol free in my part of the country? It's certainly a worry about what effect Ethanol has on the rubber compon...

Possible Holley Carburetor troubles

Hi All I have recently had rough running trouble with my standard Tiger Engine fitted with a replacement 350 CFM Holley carburetor which was fitted in around 2001. The car was very reluctant to start (Not normal), ran very rough, wouldn't tick over and eventually broke down on me and wouldn't re-sta...

Re: Brads Tiger

Your making great progress Brad :D

Here's a photo of one of the brackets on the Firewall on my Tiger, no idea if these are original though?

I have no bracket on the boot, the hook on the rubber strap simply clips onto the boot lid support pressing, again no idea if this is original.

Re: Standard air filter replacement filter element

I'm sure I have a KN element in mine. What is the recommended cleaning chemical for it please and by memory, are you not supposed to spray the element afterwards with an oil. Next question- if this is correct, how viscous an oil? Jerry K&N Do a Kit for Cleaning & Re-treating their Air Filters as th...

Re: New ethanol fuel

Most Fuel sold in the UK is stated as containing up to 5% Ethanol now, even some of the 97/98 Octane rated ones? I was told last year that ESSO Synergy Supreme + fuel sold in my area (The Midlands) contains no Ethanol and is 97 rated, I try and use this when ever I can. I also add Millers VSP Additi...
