I would think if you have a Multi-meter and set it to the Ohms (Resistance) setting you should be able to get a reading between the central terminal and an earth on the engine. Here's a photo of one of the brackets on the Firewall on my Tiger, no idea if these are original though?

I have no bracket on the boot, the hook on the rubber strap simply clips onto the boot lid support pressing, again no idea if this is original.
