Nice to see you got it sorted Russ. I like the way you solved the bearing issue. I bet it feels nice and smooth now.

New exhaust

I am about to replace the exhaust on the car.
Since the tail pipes go under the rear axle, How much clearance do I need. I can go by the old system but I would like to have it closer if possible
Just wondering what clearance others have.

Cheers Mal

If the engine is going to be built to rev a bit I would go with rollers.

Thanks for the reply Mal and the info. I thought I was heading for tumbleweed central. The wire core is around 1mm so I will order some of what is in the link and hopefully it will be ok. I have been told that the wire has little arrow marks on it telling you which way around it should go. As they ...

Martin

Have a look at the dia of the wire inside the insulation and something close to that will do. Be very careful to connect the wire the correct way around, don't want the current flowing the wrong way

I would start with the thermostat. Take it out and run the car without it for a while. Take it for the same drives where it has overheated and see if it still does it.

Tony, having the equipment to pressurise the system would have been very helpful. It is really hard to see up around the front of the engine . The power steering rack makes it even harder. I felt around the snout of the water pump and it was very wet and I could feel coolant coming from the small ho...

The same hole above the steering shaft hole on the left as a LHD car. So the cable is in under the dash from right to left, exits on the left and down to the gearbox.
