Sunbeams and Top Gear

I remember when James may visited the STOC stand at the Cranleigh Show back in 2005 we picked him up about why he felt the TR6 "may be the ultimate automotive totem of British masculinity". The answer was simply that the TR6 was the apple of his eye! http://www.sunbeamtiger.co.uk/Galleries/Classfied...

Austrian Alpine Rally 1965

Hi Thommy I'm very glad to hear you are interested in your grandfather's cars. The two blue colour paints Tiger MK1's and Alpines came in are 'Midnight Blue' and Mediterranean Blue. You can see them here: www.sunbeamtiger.co.uk/pictures/scans/B9473630.jpg www.sunbeamtiger.co.uk/pictures/scans/B94721...

All the the Club records say is that this Tiger was brought into England by a member of the USAF stationed in Suffolk? He sold it on to a GT40 restorer. I think you have the trail after that. Your best bet is to contact Norman Miller at the International Tiger Registry (See Links Page of this site)....

Austrian Alpine Rally 1965

Thommy The factory only entered the 'French' Coups Des Alpes Alpine Rally in 1965. It must have been a private entry in the Austrian Alpine rally of that year. Can you tell me the names of the driver and co-driver of the Tiger you are looking for? BTW the "works" Tigers in the Coup Des Alpes were pa...

This Tiger is known to the Club. The owner isn't a member and I haven't seen it close to but it looks like a nice specimen... once the power steering is deleted! I see it didn't reach its Reserve Price on eBay recently.

Buy It Now Tiger

Anyone know anything about the Tiger listed on eBay over the weekend with a 'Buy It Now' and sold price of £800? No engine or transmission. No stainless stripes, been standing in a barn for several years. Looked stripped down for a restoration that never happend. Located in Bookham, Surrey http://cg...

ADU 311B

Thanks for the photos Tony. I have a couple of engine bay shots that can join yours!! The owner is a STOC member, who as you say is a 'Big Healey' fan as well. An association with Peter Riley the former BMC works team driver and Rootes team driver of Tigers led to ADU 311B leaving Peter Riley's hand...

NZ TIGER

Just looked at the Trademe site, it is shown as sold to a 'Lewmartin' so I guess the deal wasn't completed. I see the new price is lifted to NZ$9,000 on Auto Trader but the listing carries the same selling particulars as before. Incidentally UK manufacturers weren't required (in the 60's) to stamp t...

How Many Tigers Survive

Mal The photos on the listing are poor but that could just be a Tiger boot. If as Michael is saying the ID of this machine fetched up on a conversion in Sydney then his question is difficult to answer i.e. why take Jensen specific fittings from it unless the body was completely toast back then. Woul...

How Many Tigers Survive

Norman Miller's "Tiger Registry" build count of 7085 Tigers is as close as you'll get. Norm reckons the present survivor count is 3896, around 54%. As you say not too bad for a 60's machine. See the 'International Tiger Registry' via the Links page. STOC believes the production total for the home ma...

The Book of Norman - For Sale

Yes, Gary is right Norm did a print run of 1000. More details at www.rootes1.com scroll down to the "The Book". I would say the lasting popularity and inexhaustible demand for the "Book of Norm Vol 1" is because of fascination with the production specifications content of Chapter Ten: "Here Comes th...
