One more thing

Sorry Mal - the other thing to check is that you don't have the dizzy in 180 deg out. I made that mistake on a SBC once and yep, turns it into a 4 cylinder quick smart. If FO is correct and rotation is correct, then I'd go back to step 1 and pull the dizzy, find TDC on #1 compression (the old thumb ...

Firing Order

Hi Mal I'm running a hydraulic roller. Most later cam profiles (as best as I have found) run 351W FO as a rule. If you know what cam grind you have then that will dictate. 1 - 3 - 7 - 2 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 8 is 351W/302HO Excuse the obvious point, but check rotation. SBFs are anti clockwise. LH Image migh...

Thanks Mal - did you also get the pump pulley turned up as well? Shot gives a great view on just how tight that bottom radiator hose routing is as well. What a compromise!

Cheers Tom

Short you tube video of a cold start up. Daughter had the technology. Hiya Mal Choice! Great to hear (literally) the engine running. Nice work with a few of the engine details as well. The alt bracket is very tasteful - are you pivoting from a single point off water pump? Own bracket? And the dipst...

Nice work

Hi Mal
Glad to hear it all mounts up and cranks over. Did they have to re-locate the pinion higher on shaft based on your paint/mesh?

Starter Mounting Holes

Hi Mal On my Quicktime the starter mounting points (circled below) were a threaded insert, however the spacing, either on the housing or on the starter mounting face, was mismatched and as such my starter wouldn't mate to the housing. To resolve, I had to drill out the inserts and resize. I couldn't...

Starter MT vs AT

Are you sure you have the correct starter to suit number of teeth on flywheel ring gear? They told me the number of teeth on the fly wheel didn't matter. Just needed to no if it was manual or auto. Hi Mal Bob's question is valid (and I should have thought of that as well). Here's a snap of how to m...

Starter Pinion Gear Spacing

Hi Mal - got sick of grinding and scraping the car so have gone and taken a few extra shots instead! I have to say this engine stand is a blessing... It does sound as though the starter hasn't mated up far enough. I had to drill out the locating holes on my QT housing to take my starter (Powermaster...

Starter and remote solenoid wiring

Hi Mal This should solve your query: 12V battery + to one side of remote solenoid Starter cable from other side of remote solenoid to starter post Ign to either of the small terminals on the remote solenoid You need to make up a small jumper (12 gauge will do it) from the main starter post to the sm...

Hi Gary I know Dale (Dales Resto) does a variety of poundages (330,450,650) in fronts (I'm running his 330 fronts and his rear leafs [leaves??] in my Alpine...the fronts are a little too firm given engine weight but the ride height sits nicely). Not too sure how they compare with your local supplier...

Tom. I see there are some nasty bush fires south west of Melbourne and worse in NSW. I'll try to set up a Restoration section later in the week!! Graham Hi Graham Yes unfortunately the Australian summer has turned nasty again - Tasmania particularly badly hit this time around. The Bureau of Met has...

Fork Boot

I have no boot over the clutch fork. Probably a good idea. Do you know of any that will do the job ?.
Haven't been able to track one down at this point. Lakewood do one but suited to the sharper radius of their housings so probably no ggod on the QT. Might risk the hydraulic throwout option...

QuickTime Scatter

Thanks Mal - had access to a supplier at the right price (and I don't have the welding skills that you and Brad have) and yep, the hydraulics to make it a treat to use. Your's all coming together nicely - boot pan looks great and that repair on the door rain channel has come up a peach. Hell of a jo...

Plating Up

That'd be a great touch - I think Mal has done similar on some of his hinges from memory.
Nothing like a bit of old fashioned alchemy - the HR people are probably having kittens at the thought!
