Traction bars?

My personal thoughts on yes or no... Definitely avoid the weld-on traction bars. They tend to rip out of the chassis where welded-on. When leaf springs flex upward, they also elongate. That is why there is that swing shackle in back. The weld-on bars keep the axle from rotating (spring windup and re...

Ash, I don't know if it is available in the UK, but there are some nice products here in the USA made by Eastwood. One of them is called Internal Frame Coating. They also have something called Heavy duty Anti-rust. Both products are available in an aerosol and the second one also in quarts that can ...

Far from an embarrassing moment I would say. Maybe for the guy in front of you that spun. I for one think your recovery was rather inspired. You wasted no time getting round forward again and further disrupting traffic behind in the process. Finishing backwards shows great instincts and presence of ...

To partially quote a line from an old Paul Newman movie, "what we have here is a failure to communicate..." I have nothing more to add.

The terms "fraud" and "counterfeit" come to mind. The marketplace says that a Tiger is worth more than an Alpine. Taking an Alpine and today converting it to a Tiger, representing it as an originally built Tiger and selling it at a Tiger price is, to me, a fraud. No different than washing a $5.00 bi...

I have hesitated to participate in this thread, primarily because I have not had anything to contribute that is new or different than what has been said. However, much earlier in this thread a thought was shared by another with which I strongly agree, and would like to bring forward again. I think t...

Fuel Pump Comments

Just like to expand on Bernd's point about SU fuel pumps. I had the version that had been converted to electronic switching versus the contact point mechanism. Lasted me about 20 years. Unfortunately it starting dying on me when I was in the middle of the State of Georgia (USA) on a trip from Chicag...

Hi Graham, sorry for not responding, I thought my car was well outside your range of interest. My B382001447 also has the later pressed style attachment points.

Sounds like the new ones was machined wrong. Based on the discrepancy, I would reject the new ones. To use them would cause the A-Arms to be located wrong horizontally with respect to the cross member per what the factory intended.

Don't know if this is helpful, but there is a relevant dimension shown in the workshop manual. As already noted in earlier posts the slots are not the same distance from the shoulders/ends of the thicker diameter. Have a look at Figure 16, Section F, page 22 in the manual. It gives a dimension of 1 ...

Graham,

Many thanks for the additional information. You guys are extremely fortunate to have such events like this on the Continent and others like it in England so easily accessible (relatively speaking!).

Thanks again for sharing a bit of the flavor.

Regarding the video link posted above... Must enjoyable, thanks from afar! Does anyone know what car he was driving? It appears to be red which would make me think Italian at least from a vintage racing perspective. (My apologies to RedRaceTiger...) But it is also right hand drive, which leaves me a...

Am I understanding it correctly that the jack and brace hold-down clips orientation shown for Mark11 was unique to the Mark II? Or was it also that way for the Mark 1A's? The reason I ask is that my Mark IA has it as shown for the Mark II, but the Vin number is only ...1447. I am particularly curiou...
