MoT exemption

After reading to article in the latest Cats Whiskers, I am still a bit confused. My Mot expired in August 2018 but the car is taxed until Jan 2019. can I still drive the car legally or will I have to wait until the DVLA sends me the reminder to tax the car and then declare that it is Mot exempt?

condenser

I have recently had to replace several condensers on my tiger. The current consensus is that many of the current condensers are cheaply made in countries like China and Brazil and are just not up to the job. Can any member suggest a supplier that can supply good quality condensers. My first Tiger in...

MoT exemption

I taxed my Tiger in March 2018. The current MoT expires in September 2018. Can I apply for MoT exemption before I retax the car next March? If not , can I use the car after the current MoT expires?

radiator

My original radiator has finally decided to leak. Is it best to go for a recored original or a new aluminium one. The manufacturers claim improved cooling from their aluminium ones, has anyone tried them and if so are they a good fit as claimed?

interior mirror

Are replacement glasses available for the Tiger interior mirror? I have an old mirror in my spares box and with a new glass it would be like brand new.

front side light unit

I seem to have regular earthing problems with my O/S sidelight unit. Is there a better way of earthing this unit instead of relying on the fixing screws to do it?

wipers

I suspect that there is some wear in either my wiper wheelboxes or wiper rack. Does anyone know the part number of the wheelboxes as there are several advertised on e-bay but with different part numbers? There is nothing more annoying than buying a part and finding that it does not fit.

oil filter pipe

Is there a recommended position for the curved pipe on the oil filter assembly? Mine is between the oil filter and the water pump but on my first tiger back in 1969 I am sure that it was between the oil filter and the header tank. At the moment the rubber part of the pipe is only about 10mm from the...

Some people say don't fit new lifters with an old camshaft. Did you replace the cam as well as the lifters?

hydraulic lifters

Is it best to fill the lifters with oil before installing them. The Rootes workshop manual seems to recommend fitting them dry whereas some engine specialists suggest immersing them in engine oil overnight.

hydraulic lifters

One of my hydraulic lifters seems to clatter for a while on start up. I should have replaced them when I had the engine out a few years ago. Can the lifters be replaced in situ? I suspect that the rear pushrods may not be able to be totally removed due to clearance problems but can't see any other d...
