the Ford carb inlet pipe does indeed seal with the flare into the carb.
Remove the pipe and check to see if there is no distortion to the flare or debris under the seat to impair the seal

Brake hose copper washer
Lou, good job that you contacted the hose suppliers, hopefully they will provide the correct rear hose. If you were to try and fit that hose with the short union on one end you would not be able to anchor the hose to the bracket, only by fitting the hard brake pipe union nut, which may not tighten full...

Brake hose copper washer
Hi Lou, the rear hose that you have fitted without the retaining nut and washer, will be using the brake pipe union nut to hold to the bracket, not an ideal situation and one that should be replaced with the correct hose, these are made for the earlier Alpine, where the rear hose screws into a brass uni...

Brake hose copper washer
Hi Meadowhog, If all the three brake hoses are the same,i.e end to end and length, then they do not seem to be a very good product. You may have an early Alpine hose set,as they had a rear hose that fitted to a three way union on the rear axle. The two front hoses should be different to the one rear,...

Re: Brake hose copper washer
Meadowhog, you originally said that the brake hose's end may be to short to "Bottom out " in the caliper, are the hoses the same for all three, are the ends all the same length. The short fittings go into the caliper thread and have a copper washer under the hexagon to seal the union, they do not seal ...

Brake hose copper washer
The brake hose union ends are different, the longer bulkhead ends will be fitted to the bracket on the crossmember and the shorter unions fit the calipers, with this type of fitting to make a seal you must use a copper washer as the fittings seal against the face and not the seat. Metric fittings seal...

TIGER 50
Rob, the front wheel brgs, do not need grease in the brg cap,in fact it will run out of the cap if they have a breather hole there. To check brgs, which I reality on most Tigers are not checked or repacked as often as they should be, the hub and disc needs to be removed from the stub axle, brgs and se...

Dudley, well this is not an easy job for you with the distance of the two engines. The machine shop that will do the balance will need both the flywheel and clutch cover also the crank damper, crank bolt, and to do the job properly the crankshaft, con rods, pistons, pins and rings ,along with con rod brg...

Engine Rebuild
Hi Dudley, if you intend to use the flywheel and harmonic balancer from your 260 engine, you will have to have the 289/302 engine balanced. The flywheel and balancer will not be matched to the 302 crank and piston balance, the components need to be balanced with those if you want to use them on that e...

No power to switches
Rob,
you may have dirty contacts inside your switches, try spraying some contact cleaner inside them whilst you operate the toggle, that sometimes cleans the contact points which by now will be slightly burnt.

No power to switches
Hi Rob, when you say you have no power on the switches, which terminals are you testing ?. The Blower switch receives 12v positive via the Voltage Stabilzer,12 volt terminal,do your gauges work and indicator function.? The wiper switch is fed negative via an Earth to ground fixed via a 1/4unf screw u...

clutch master cylinder bore
Hi Rob, you can use the 0.75 or 3/4" clutch master cyl, what you will have is a heavier feel as you are trying to push more fluid,it will alter the "bite point". The 5/8" cyl works fine, without giving to much of a heavy feel. Do know what clutch you have fitted ?,even very heavy clutch covers will op...

clutch master cylinder bore
Hi Rob,
Clutch master cyl is 5/8" or .625
Girling cyls are readily avaliable new, from the usual suppliers,if re sealing an old cyl,may not be cost effective as piston will score bore over time.

Windscreen frame fitting
Martin, the seal is fitted as shown, with the chrome vent able to fit into and against the flap, there should be a metal strip inside of the seal, both top and bottom, which has small slots through it. You will be able to find the holes if you carefully feel for them with a blunted screwdriver, when foun...

Windscreen frame fitting
Martin, the A post seal is fitted with the seal opening facing out to the door,so that the chrome fixed vent frame shuts into it. There are locations for the screws throught the rubbber seal that runs up the screen frame and under the cowl. Apply sealant to seal to frame etc, when you have made screw...
