260 Bore

Don't trust honing; it will egg-shape and create more of a ring problem for you. All those broken rings indicate too much movement with clearance issues. The meaty 260 block can be bored .060 easily. I have made 289's out of them with no problem and even tossed in a 3.00" crank for torque.

Weather Ditto Blah

Hi Tom. Nice to see you are making some progress, though gunk scraping is not a lot of fun. Love the sound of that engine. It would have been nice to have mine on an engine stand like yours to run it before it went in. Hows the weather over there. 33.4 C here today :D The weather here is all white ...

Re: WANTED - Air Filter Housing

I'm looking for either an original air filter housing or one of the LAT style aluminium versions (this doesn't need to be original). Anyone got one they don't need at a sensible price? Thanks Lou. E-mail for a picture of an aluminum version. Takes the stock filter etal. < willett581@msn.com > randy...

Re: Continuous Ownership

I would be interested to learn from Tiger owners who have traced the history of previous owners. How successful were you, was the DVLA helpful etc? Also from Tiger owners as to who can say they have an unbroken record of M.O.T.s going back 10, 20, 30 years or more! Don't want to do a poll as they n...

Notches

FYI: Note the notches in the fulcrum for the mount bolts. The end with the shortest distance between the notch and the bushing goes toward the front of the wish . . . . .I only say this because several have come into the shop for re-alignment only to discover that one side (or both) are installed ba...

Wishbone/A arms

Note: The assembled fulcrum provides the exact inner dimensions by application. This was engineered that way on purpose (or by dumb accident). I noticed that in the photo, the outer bushing collar is still in the wishbone and should be removed before any new bushing attempt. The un-assembled wishbon...

Upper wish/A-arms

Thanks Gents, still on a learning curve here. Are the stock fulcrum pins really that weak? Also has anyone a picture of the upper wishbone strengthening welds? Tried heat, lots of it several times, no joy, so one more go then its saw time. http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc451/BradsTiger/200520...

More tediums

I occasionally need to make two lengthwise cuts in the A-arm bush outer sleeve about a screwdriver's width apart to start a "peel" point. From there it's just love, patience & cursing. Sometimes the inner sleeve will grab the fulcrum and be extra stubborn. With a little heat (careful, you need to re...

Be careful

Got poly bushes ready to fit, though i think this wishbone insert may see a junior hacksaw blade sometime soon. :-) The inner washers on the A-arm fulcrums are a specific size & thickness to be part of the pressing out process. Properly supported on a length of pipe (tool), the average pressing nee...
