I have same concerns and was going to try Supertraps, they bolt into the tail pipe and are a selection of disc's that you add or take away to tune the noise. more disc's equals more noise.
I have not bought them yet but this is my plan

Ours is 260 and runs well I have a gt40 302 brand new ready and waiting but as 260 runs so well I really don't wont to change it I almost drive it without respect for the fact its an old engine but it just does not use oil and pulls so well.

Mal that is very neat I guess you take the cross member off a lot, think I will use your design but as Bob says couple of bits of timber would do.

When Taking off your front cross complete with brakes and suspension
what technique do you use when lowering it down so that it does not rotate and fall off the jack?

We are not going but do know people that are going on sat ( they are not tiger owners) they could go along to the stand. Other than that anyone from the kent surrey area would be ok.
I can give my friend some money to leave on the Tiger stand for you. Let me know what you want for it
