I considered having one instead of a Tiger. Infact really like them. Easy choice for me though, the roof doesnt come off a Griff.

Ive been for the last 5 years and showed my car. Ive rated it highly but they are trying to phase out the classics in favour of vintage cars. There were normally 4-5 of us Tigerers there. I did apply on the opening day of registration to go up hill. Didnt hear anything until told I was in a last 20 ...

I havent quite a full understanding yet of what happened to mine but the coil, ballast resistor and condensor all failed at the same time. One may have caused another to fail. Condensor would give a fluctuating ohms reading showing something was breaking down. (NB this is not always the way to find ...

Funny that, the condensor that failed on me last week was a Mallory. I've been told the Mallory condensor is a poor component and it sounds like the rest of the electrics are poor too. There's a lesson to be learnt. Anyway glad you got it sorted. Did you test them or swap and see? Could be an opport...

Thanks Peter, I see Tristan at my monthly meet so I'll ask him how its going. Ive found a pair of condensors in the garage (annoyingly) I'll stick with them for a bit, but electronic is the way to go. I read the Pertronic II has issues with coil match but the III sounds great as it has a rev limiter...

Yep, Condensor (cap) proved faulty. Annoyingly found two in the garage. Now have a spare.

Great picture of car being towed away but I guess we are the only two that have that kind of experience documented. Nothing embarrasing about that is there.

Thats an invite for further pics and stories!

Mallory conversion to electronic ignition

Broke down the other day. Found the condensor has died and that it is a common problem on Mallory dual point dizzys. Seems dual point is voodoo anyway. Is there an electronic conversion and whats in involved? fitting and will it need new coil. And does anyone know what the capacitor rating is? Can I...

Could be that if theres a leak. I thought I was the only one to have a carb leaked vacuum like a sieve. Just in case, tighten up all bolts on the carb. You could get a blow torch (un-lit!) and get some gas around the carb and see if it picks up on idle.

Twin choke ford is pretty reliable. So electrics sounding more likely. Assuming no detonation ie. too advanced as there are no strange engine noises it could be too far retarded. Thats happened to me but doesnt explain why it would be fine and now not. It wouldnt take much to advance it but first Id...

It's a warm day so turned off the heater going down the motorway. Unbeknown to me the heater valve leaked so slowly dumped water. I think it got too hot and I presume cooked the coil or the condensor. I started to get a cylinder missingintermittently and then more until it sounded like only one was ...

What carb have you got. What happens over 1500rpm. How warm is warm. Do you use a choke. Whats it like when you drive. Any strange engine noises. Is the dizzy loose. Can you see any fuel dribbling out of mains? Any black smoke out exhuast? Got enough water? Need more but as a guess running rich espe...
