Yep, steel insert. With only 570lbs of torque steel billet is pobably the best idea for daily driving! Decided not to go alley for now. Ill check the motor over see what its got and go from there. £20 standard ring instead of £300 inc balancing is still good but i may spend that on something else. I...

Hi guys, As Tony says. I too 1st did this with a Holbay which made a hell of a difference. More of the engines power is used to drive the back wheels instead of accelerating a big lump of spinning steel. Years ago I was talking to a Rolls engineer who had a calculation which explained that dropping ...

Alley Flywheel
I need to replace my ring gear and thought I may as well go for an alley flywheel with a ring gear on it. I assume theyre all 13". Does anyone know of any problem in doing this? 157 or 160 teeth doesnt seem to be a problem but whats the rules on balancing and does a standard clutch fit?? I have a 19...

That article is why Im asking about a shroud. Very good I thought. Tha alley rad is brand new so blockage there. No water leaks and low temp thermo. Electric pump sounds good. shes getting hot but never actually boiled, its the electics that failed. Could be cheap Chinese stuff or coil on its side e...

20mins stationary and Im in trouble. Timing is good, thermo opens, water still there, standard water pump ratios, tick over 850rpm, 14lb cap. Electric helps but currently too close to rad. I can smell it overheating and the coil, resitor and condensor all failed-can only be heat. Saw a very technica...

Great, Ive been looking at keeping cool since frying my ignition. Even with flexi fan, alley rad, big kenlow and blocked horn holes isnt enough for a warm 302 with headers. It seems the answer lies in a fan shroud together with moving electric fan away 1/2" and blocking off other routes for hot rad ...

In all the 30 years I've been involved its always been slow. I've put it down to the technology not being able to cope with petrol sloshing around in the Tank. If we're fast the gauge would show wildly different readings every time you went round a corner, brake or the fun bit. At 210mph, I don't kn...
