Tony, yes using an MSD does give you another coil choice,but when running a Mallory distributor with either an optical pick up or magnetic ,one has to use their specified coil due to the impedence rating. You can not run an MSD Coil with the Mallory distributor,unlesss you are using the MSD CD unit...
