clutch adjustment

You can adjust the pushrod more without doing any harm. There is at least 1/2 " adjustment possible. Just remember the more clearance between the pushrod nut and the clutch lever the lower the biting point for the clutch.

bellhousing

I notice that McLeod are now making a modular bellhousing for SBF engines so that any transmission can be used. Eg early toploader HEH-E can be fitted behind 6-bolt block without any modifications such as drilling and tapping the factory 6- bolt bellhousing. Apparently it can use either 157 or 164 t...

tiger shots

There are a few good glimpses of a tiger in the 1966 film Bunny Lake is Missing starring Kier Dullea , Laurence Oliver and Carol Lynley. Although the film was in black and white, I think the car was Mediterranean Blue. I think it appeared in three scenes. A particularly good scene is when Kier Dulle...

clutch

I replaced my clutch 3 years ago and used a standard diaphram spring unit from the club. The clutch is great but I did have to replace the slave cylinder pushrod with a longer one as there was too much clearance between the adjusting nut and the clutch release arm even with the nut at its maximum ad...

I will soon be needing to replace my mild steel exhausts with stainless steel . Has anyone recently fitted the club s/s systems and if so were there any problems such as fouling the cruciform pass throughs ?

No. 4 spark plug access

I found that when I refitted my exhaust manifolds, that it is possible to move them slightly fore and aft by about 2 mm due to the size of the bolt holes being somewhat larger than the the size of the bolts. Although this does not sound much ,it could be that if you slackened the bolts and pushed th...

Toploader Heaven in Oklahoma sells a kit of special tools to overhaul a toploader including seal installation tools. It also includes a CD . It sounds like a snip at $60 plus shipping.

water pump

Has any tiger owner ever changed the water pump with the fan still attatched? On my current tiger there is not enough clearance to remove the fan without first removing the radiator. On my first tiger back in 1970 I could remove the fan with the radiator still in position. The water pump in that ins...

axle ratio

I suspect that the axle ratio on my tiger is not the usual 2.88 . However the tag that should be on the diff casing is missing. What is the easiest way to calculate the axle ratio. I did wonder about finding the MPH per 1000 rpm in top gear but the speedo is a bit unsteady and the rev counter is rea...

engine earth strap

The engine earth strap on my car is attached on one end to the front bolt of the L/H exhaust manifold and on the other end to one of the bolts on the lower end of the left hand bracing rod . Is this the correct location for the earth strap ?

cylinder heads

Can the cylinder heads on a Tiger be removed with the engine in situ? I removed them a few years ago when I had the engine out to fit a new clutch but would like to remove them again preferably without removing the engine.

edelbrock

Does any member know if Edelbrock makes cylinder heads for the 260 engine? I know that they make them for the 289 engine and that some members have fitted cast iron 289 heads to the 260 . Does this mean that the 289 alloy Edelbrock heads could be fitted to the 260? I suspect that the diameter of the...
