Re: Hard top dimensions needed

Hello Rich My hard top is on the car at the mo, but I fitted new weatherseals to it last year and it does not fit brilliantly at all. I suspect it never did. I will try to check the dimension for you when I get a jiffy, but it seems odd that yours is distorted without it being visible. Do the pegs s...

Re: MoT exemption

You can carry on driving it. When the next tax renewal is due, you will simply not be required to have an MOT, (as has been the case for a few years on pre 1960 cars). What is new, is that you will be required to make a tick-box declaration that the car has not been modified and is therefore eligibl...

Re: condenser

Gary`s recommendation is a good one. The problem is that no current generation cars use condensors and the market is supplied with cheap aftermarket items from the far east, which are of variable quality. I have also been told that these are excellent, if pricey...https://swiftune.com/parts-shop/ign...

Re: Best Oil for a Tiger

I have used a 20/50 oil in the past in the tiger and it is fine. But a 15W40 is perhaps a bit better for filling the hydraulic tappets rapidly after start-up. If you talk to American classic car owners on the forums, they seem to use some very low viscosity oils such as 5W40, but I am not convinced ...

Re: Best Oil for a Tiger

I run mine on a standard 15W40 oil suitable for both petrol and diesel. Look for a spec like SJ/CF4. That is an oil for older engines (pre 2004) containing zinc, which is good for flat tappet tops and bad for diesel particulate filters! See the link below. They are not the only supplier! https://www...

Aluminium radiator and stuff

I am thinking of upgrading the radiator in my MKII from the current standard unit to an aluminium one with electric fan in front. currently the temp rises to 85 degrees if driving gently, but goes higher, to the point of boiling, if driving harder or in high ambient temperatures. I am planning to us...

I agree entirely with the points made above. But to answer the original question, you will be able to renew your tax next year without needing to have a valid MOT. It is as simple as that. No need to apply for the exemption, it is automatic. I completed the consultation response on this on behalf of...

I imagine the different profiles were chosen because the section widths are different. The profile, or more correctly, the aspect ratio, is a percentage of the section width, which is given in millimetres. IE, 195mm*50% on a 15inch diameter wheel, which happens to be 7" wide. 185/55 should therefore...

You could probably get this info from the suppliers of springs such as Sunbeam Spares co. I got mine from there, but they were listed simply as 'heavy duty'. Transformed the car though.

steering toe out (in?) on turns

I have searched through the old posts looking for something on the steering toe-out on turns modification, but cannot find much except for wheel alignment. The issue is the comedy steering geometry on the Tiger. Akermann principle requires steering arms that would converge at the rear axle, if they ...

Where do you keep your hardtop?

My hardtop was for many years stored in the garage roof space. I got it out to use this year for the Donington Historic Festival when it was Bxxxxy cold. Now it is leaning against the garage wall taking up more space than it deserves. I just wondered if any one else has come up with any neat solutio...
