Re: Adding a electric fan sensor switch
I have always followed convention when fitting a temperature sensor for a fan and fitted it in or around the top hose, but have often wondered (sad, I know) if this is the wrong place. When the water in the top hose is at "run fan" temperature, this means that the engine is already over its optimum ...

Everyone I know who has a pre 1960 car, which has been exempt for some time, still take it down for an "MOT", in all but name, simply to have peace of mind that another pair of experienced eyes have been cast over the vehicle. I am actually quite surprised that Insurance companies are not asking for...

I totally agree that they were built to race and that they should be seen out on the racetrack in their natural environment, but they are no longer in a competitive "development" formula and the aim should not be to win at all costs, regardless of the carnage left behind. Yes, metal can be repaired,...

Is it just me getting older and more sensible but does anyone else cringe at the antics of some of the "professional" drivers in these beautiful (and irreplaceable because you can`t just build another like you would if it was a modern racecar) cars. When that E-Type rammed the Cobra up the rear and ...

I think you will be correct pointing the finger at the matrix, as the 2 hoses going into the bulkhead connect to the matrix almost immediately. There are no other hoses back there. Temporary get you home fix until you can fix it properly is to cut those 2 hoses as close to the bulkhead as possible a...

Just to be a little pedantic, and to give visitors to the event a bit of background - it is the "St John Horsfall meeting" (pronounced Sinjon Horsfall)- we wouldn`t like to upset the Aston Martin Owners, I`m sure, by getting the name of one of their heroes wrong! One of the Aston Martin Owners Club ...

Heated manifold adapter
I am changing all of the cooling system hoses and have two hose connections to a "sandwich" plate between the carb and the manifold, one connection at the front from the Tee carrying a temp sensor and one at the back which Tees into the heater hose (the Tee doesn`t look original). Is this sandwich p...

Value is a two edged sword - Yes it is very nice for owners to see an asset appreciate, and it is much more likely that more borderline cars will be restored due to their perceived value after having money spent on them, BUT will they still be deemed as useable and be seen out and about, both everyd...

The AMOC meeting incorporating an Intermarque race is at Oulton Park on Saturday 10th May 2014. Tiger(s) have featured in these for the last few years, but I haven`t seen an entry list yet. We`ll be there with a pre war Aston. That's the only Oulton meeting but the other meets are; http://www.amocra...
