Re: Difficulty starting

I have a Tiger with an 289 ci engine with the standard carburettor and the standard fuel pump and I had always problems with starting the engine when the car was not used for several weeks. It took me some time to find out how to resolve this problem which is now more than 25 years ago. Since I foll...

Re: Fastening speedometer cable on gearbox

After 6 years I still have the same problem. The needle of the speedometer is wobling and checking this by driving the speedometer with a drill shows that the wobling disappears. I fitted a new speedometer cable and still to no avail. Only after I have clamped the speedometer cable again on the gear...

Re: Brake light switch

The switch itself could be failing too and the available new ones are often made in China and fail after a short time also. Even with the Lucas-name on the boxes (green/white boxes instead of the original red boxes).

Re: Differential stamping

Hi Jerry, It was my pleasure to try to help you out on this one. Regarding gearbox numbers that are the same for different cars I can inform you that a friend of mine here in the Netherlands has an original Tiger which was sold here as "Alpine 260". When I had in the past a brief contact with Norman...

Re: New ethanol fuel

Here in the Netherlands we already have this terrible fuel (10% Ethanol) since july 2019. You certainly must not use this fuel in your Tiger! One possibility is using additives, but another posibility is using BP Ultimate which has at least overhere 0% Ethanol. The same regards Shell V-power. The oc...

Re: RHD steering rack

Only 812 Tigers were built for the UK! The USA took 5109 of them while Canada imported 572 TIgers. Europe (exlusive the UK) imported 356 Tigers and the rest of the world imported 218 TIgers. In this last 218 Tiger are included some RHD examples. It is safe to asume that max about 900 RHD Tigers are ...

Re: Cats Whiskers

The essence of my remark is that the text in CW is talking about Europe while it concerns a part of Europe. The mainland Europe isn't precise either because Britain is not the only island that is part of Europe. I write this with a smile because I have seen it over and over again that a lot of Brits...

Re: Cats Whiskers

Today I received Cats Whiskers issue 105 and as always it was a pleasure reading it. But there is one little error on page 45 which I like to correct. The Panhard PL 17 Tigre is mentioned as the reason why Rootes had to sell the Tiger as Alpine 260 in Europe, but at the same time there is mentioned a...

Hi Graham,

Thank you very much for your prompt answer!
Indeed I seem to have missed the information about the printer messing up with the posting to overseas members.
Thanks again for informing me!

Best regards,

Peter
