The above suggestion about a slight shift fore/aft in the manifold certainly sounds promising. Is there also an issue of clearance for the socket over the plug and then being able to turn it? If so, have you tried the tool kit socket and tommy bar? That might give you a little extra room in the spar...

So Ive done a few miles now. Down the motorways and gunning it, it runs fine. Starting from cold and its fine but after its warmed and at idle it runs very rich, so rich it makes your eyes water and black smoke comes out of exhaust. Everything okay wrt any choke you have? If its an automatic one, p...

Mal, that looks absolutely beautiful. Thanks. Mr. Tomaselli, as I understand it the panhard rod is intended to keep the body centered (more or less) over the rear axle in a turn when the rear suspension is with leaf springs. The body will try to move sideways in a turn relative to the rear axle. The...

Supposedly, the best design practice is to have the panhard rod run parallel to the axle rather than upward at an angle as it does on the Tiger. I know the Tom Hall repair also provides other mounting holes to make the rod more parallel. Other than the Tom Hall repair, does anyone know of other ways...

There has been some very enlightening info recently posted on the Tiger List in the USA on the subject of factory SU fuel pumps by Ron Fraser. Ron showed some calculations that converted the shop manual statistics on the pump to a PSI figure. He also showed how the pump's output equated to flow dema...

Hi Brad, Regarding fulcrum pin failure, I can only refer you to others. It definitely has happened. Hence my recommendation you have yours magnafluxed as long as you have them out. There is some discussion of what is going on to cause them to fail on the www.tigersunited.com web site, written by Tom...

Hi Brad, If it is not yet in your plans, I would recommend you have your presumably stock fulcrum pins magnafluxed for developing cracks before reusing them. Assuming of course you do not have higher strength ones ready and waiting for reassembly. Also I would highly recommend building the necessary...

USA event results

FYI, I just saw a nice story and picture on the TEAE.org forum website posted by Hugh Guynes about his new 1 mile speed record attempt. They are under the Modified Tiger tab, dated May 1st. Those interested in airdams might also find the picture of his car of interest.

Cheers, Gene

Hi Bob, First of all, welcome to our corner of the classic sports car world! It looks Like I will be jumping in first here, but I am sure others will be contributing as well. The danger in making any upgrades is the domino effect. Everything is pretty interdependent so when you change one thing, you...

Brad, that linkage looks pretty complicated to my inexperienced eye. Not sure how one would attach such a thing to a Tiger. If you decide to make one, please share the plans!

Some inspirational work going on here! Now with the uni-body stripped would be a great time to reinforce and relocate the panhard rod mount attachment point lower, so that the rod can be run parallel to the ground for better handling. Rolling the body over on its other side would make it really easy...

Graham, I will not be voting. It seems the results will be to used to guide STOC on its members preferences as to what others have declared to be a strictly British issue. To the extent that this poll influences what stand the club will take in forthcoming deliberations on legal guidelines in the UK...

I love Graham's idea of the Le Mans coupe body having gone into production. I do love that look. Also maybe having AC in it too would be less of a contradiction for the day?

A major redesign of the basic unibody would probably have been cost prohibitive as a practical matter. The volume of sales would have probably made the payback period unacceptably long. (Post post edit: Graham, did not see your coupe suggestion as I was typing at the time. See my follow up endorseme...
