Mal, do you have 15 or 16 teeth on that drive? I've just taken mine out of what I believe to be the original 4-speed toploader (UK RHD 1965 Mk1) and I have 15 teeth. I've sent out a couple of enquiries, one to the US and one to Austrialia, and they both have said they can only provide 16 teeth, 15 t...

I had overheating problems when running-in a rebuilt 'warm' 289 and made my own fully enclosed shroud ( already had flexi-fan). It's made a huge difference. Took a while to build, a bit of origami in card and then copied in ally sheet. Polishes up nicely.

...All in all an easier weekend than last week when we fitted power steering. Saturday was bad enough in 30C heat but Sunday was even worse with a stinking hangover - not nice being upside down under the dash when you're feeling sick! Lou. http://i1154.photobucket.com/albums/p540/TXJ7/IMG_1272.jpg

Yes, it was a bit warm and humid at the weekend, but ... Opened-up the clearance on the fan-shroud and re-fitted - wondered what the "tinging" noice was when pulling hard in 1st gear! Made a guard for the oil cooler and fitted. Wired up the o2 sensor and gauge so can keep an eye on the carb tuning -...

Hi Mal, I've just had a similar situation with a dodgy 1850 600 carb on my 302 and traced it to air being sucked though the hole behind the choke mechansim mounting bracket plate. There should be a circular paper gasket (about 10mm in dia) covering the hole just below the left most mounting screw, b...

This thread got me thinking as well, so here's my history for what it's worth... 1972 Vauxhall Viva 1972 Spitfire Mk4, rebuilt 3 times painted orange, then black and finally metalic blue. Last engine was full balanced 1300 with twin 40s and a wild race cam...was a hoot and lasted about 6mths before ...

Thanks Bob, a good tip for replacing one bad stud. But I was thinking of replacing all studs for longer ones as I am using a spacer with alloys, so I might still try pulling the hub again if I can get hold of a suitable puller ( now have an offer of a Triumph puller that might just fit). Chris, I'm...

Good call on Dolomite front spoiler. Thanks to e-bay I now have one that looks like it will fit without too much fettling. Better than a Mini valance! Yet another manufacturers part, to go with Mazda, Peugeot, Ford, etc. Too long to name the car now. http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af314/Bigbob...
