Water hose from radiator to waterpump

Hi Peter, you can fit a light spring inside the hose to stop it collapsing,or make a coiled wire support to do the job.

Tiger engine

Hi Shindles, the simple answer is that you can only get another 260 that has been worked on or an early 5 bolt 289 as the 5 bolt bell housing is the problem. The later 289/302 have 6 bolt bell housings and you would require a another bell housing to match up to gearbox. An early 5 bolt 289 is not tha...

289 Hipo

Pierre,
you may find that a 600 cfm Holley with a vac secondary would be better for fuel consumption.
Most of the driving time you will be using the primaries and when engine demand is there, the secondaries will come into play.

replacing front bush in rear springs

Try to use a large socket and have the spring blocked in the press,
If the bush removes to easily then the new one will not be gripped by the spring and the eye is to large, the spring will then rotate on the bush which has an eccentric hole for spring camber and height.

Help identify component

Joe, the use of Ballasted coils was in order to help stop the ignition contacts from burning by cutting down on the voltage flowing through them. The ballast resistor in fact creates a resistance to the voltage to reduce it to around 9 volts, allowing a coil which will run at a lower voltage. Another...

Headlight Bowls

Martin,
the front indicator sidelight units are held to the body by the same screws that retain the lens to the chrome body, those are the screw sizes to match some spire nuts to.

Martin,
you can use self tapping screws or even rivets,if you are not planning on removing them that often.

Gearbox Noise

Hi Tim, the noise that you can hear may be the gear shifter wear allowing the lever to rattle and buzz ,try when driving to lightly rest your hand on the lever to see if it stops. Do you have gear lever springs and trunions in there ? Although you have a new clutch, the release bearing may have fail...

Cooling system preasure

Tim,
have the header tank just over the half full when cold to allow for expansion when hot,if you overfill it will expand and lift the cap and let coolant out, finding it's own level.

Stiff/Notchy Steering

Tim,
yes it would be a removal of the column, and then a strip out of the bearing to clean and inspect, you may be able to buy new ball bearings if the races are still good and not pitted or grooved.
Then repack with grease and refit.

Stiff/Notchy Steering

Hi Tim, you may find that the ball bearings in the steering colunm are worn and dry of lubricant. As the engine gets warm and radiates heat into the engine bay the column will warm up and the bearings could become dry. Perhaps you can disconect the shaft from the column whilst still warm and test. K...

Boot Hinges

Martin, that pic of the boot seal rubber is of an original style and is a shallower profile than some of the seals sold. I don't think that is causing you the problem, rather than the hinge being old and worn. To retap the thread is not that easy as you have a very small amount of depth to start a ne...
